Nick, oddly enough with this being a jigsaw puzzle based game, I am one of the people who actually HATES jigsaw puzzles, almost as much as fishing :) Some folks hate sliders, and sudokus. Have you given any consideration to giving us the choice in each field of the flungeon to choose the puzzle type you'd like to solve? This might go a long way to solving some of the issues, along with the updates and changes you have mentioned.

Cheers Nick, that was a good compromise. It will be good to have a flux to go back to if I get annoyed with those coloured bushes so I can whack up a full bar of power and still feel like I'm progressing.

I don't dislike the puzzles, though the idea of 'choose your puzzle' is a good one. I'd just like them to reflect the area that I am in. There just seems to be 3 or 4 random puzzles to complete that aren't actually ones I can pop out of the field and compare to see where the next piece may go. Other than the one for the big bush, that is reflective of the area I'm in, obviously.

I mean in real world puzzles you at least have the box lid :).

Aquafishy, I like your recommendation for player choice of how to complete the fields. That would tie in nicely if there were achievement for x # of puzzle solves, y# of sliders and z# of sudokus.

In other news, I'm unsubscribing from this thread.... there is too much negativity with straight up demands. I can handle positive criticism and points for improvements, but this is turning into a freeforall with rants and complaints after complaints. Too much crap and stress in the real world so I'm going to put myself at a distance from online negativity.

Ciao ciao

Hi Nick, now that you generously have given us the Fluxes 1-20 back and I have had some time to think about the Flungeon issues... I have come up with some suggestions, which may make the Flungeon more enjoyable.

Puzzle size:
I would suggest having 64 pieces in each puzzle and making Flux-Dust reward being every 2 puzzles. This would make Flungeon slightly more lucrative (Flux-Dust-wise) than regular Fluxes... and also make the puzzle feasible without the use of insta-solve.

Flux seeds: Flux seeds are a wonderful idea, so I would use them as rewards more often. The 3 day wait for them to sprout does not bother me, as long as the seed is not insanely difficult to obtain.

Flux keys and map thingy: Also nice rewards especially if we can up their use.
Flux keys could be used to skip over things (like solving sudoku puzzles or sliders, for people who do not like them) and the Maps could be used to go back if you are hating the present area.

Trinkets: Flungeon is an excellent area for new trinkets that remove the annoying parts (special bushes for instance).

Other rewards:
XP points are not a waste if you have the Levellers boon activated. So, VIP vouchers could be a good reward for completing X number of puzzles, or a tier.

Runes are under-used in the game IMO. Puzzle runes, dust, charity runes, and quests to build that special FLungeon Rune are all good additions to make this area less upsetting and more fun.

Gold and Gems are underused also. It´s time to start selling new things for gold and gems that can be useful in the Flungeon. Like hidden passages to skip places, clothing items, etc.

Other tokens. Flungeon could be a place to earn other areas tokens. Flungeon tokens could be a kind of universal currency you can trade for any other area tokens.

FLungeon needs something collectible you can turn in. Critters that get "Lost" in the Flungeon. Items that got dropped in the Flungeon. Something you can collect throughout the tier and then can turn in to get rewards (Flungeon tokens, keys, maps, etc)

Flungeon needs NPCs. It´s too large an area to be without some silly NPC annoying us to do things.

Flungeon needs special fishable items and regularly appearing fishing holes.

Flungeon needs digging areas with special digging rewards.

Pets!! Now this is the main reason an experienced player would bother going through the hell of a flungeon: getting golden DNA to start buying up pets.
Also, special holiday pets that were missed before... all could be made accessible via FLungeon torture. haha
I know I would endure Flungeon to get some impossible pet I want but have no other way of getting.

Time machine!! Flungeon could be used as a way of "turning back time" and going back to Years and Events we missed, to get items and pets from previous years and or special events, allowing an advanced player to complete tons of already programmed content.

There... those are my suggestions. Hope at least some of them are useful.

I just did some math. I've completed tier 6 and received 19 flux dust. That is 19 dust per 30x 100pc puzzle, that is 3000 puzzle pcs whacked up. To get 19 dust from the flux that is 144pc x 19 = 2736.

I agree with Helga. I'd like to see some more items for sale which costs extremely high values of gold or gems. I'm not a dragon, but I'm sitting on 1.25 billion gold and 4,200 diamonds

Thanks again for the feedback, folks! I've noted it down and will consider it going forward. Very interesting ideas for sure!

There's been some confusion about the term "Tier" being used for normal fields AND in dungeons.

Any alternative suggestions for it in the dungeon?

I'm leaning towards changing Tier/Depth to Depth/Room or Depth/Area, so instead of Tiers consisting of Depths, you'd have Depths consisting of Rooms or Areas. This would be more in line with the "Dungeon" metaphor.

I'd appreciate hearing everyone's thoughts about this.

Alternative to Tier: Maze?

Although I think Tier is very self-explanatory and basically the only thing that was not confusing to me. haha

Nick, you asked if we had alternative suggestions for naming Tiers in the dungeon...

My suggestion is to make it more consistent with the terms we are familiar with in other areas of the game.

We are accustomed to whacking in Bushwhackia "Fields" so why not call it "Depths consisting of Fields?" I like the word "Depths" because it indicates delving deeper into the Dungeon.

For example:
Depth 1/ Field 1, Field 2, etc
Depth 2/ Field 1, Field 2, etc
Depth 3/ Field 1, Field 2, etc
Etc, etc, etc.

An excerpt of my suggestions from the Q&A thread, in case it was missed. (don't know the best thread for posting this topic)
1)Add puzzles with more interesting scenes & colors to make them easier and more fun.
2)Add some diversity in between doing jigsaw puzzles ... ie. alternate a puzzle in one area with something different to do in the next. (I have not yet seen a sliding block or sudoku puzzle like other players say they have). Push-blocks & diggeries would also be fun, as well as having the fishing hole accessible.
3)Give us a choice of paths according to the type of puzzle we prefer (vs type of reward).
4)Give us the option of backtracking to another path if we change our mind.

I like the Depth/Field idea, I mean we're going to call them fields anyway, that's how we've been trained in the 10 years this game has been going.

I was ok with Tier/Depth... but I like Flybaby's idea of Depth/Field better.
Also I want to reiterate that smaller fields (64 pieces) and one flux dust every 2 fields seem to me to be a better arrangement for this Flungeon enterprise to succeed. ;)

I like Flybaby ideas..(BUT ,,I had 4 sudkou puzzles in tier 3,, pretty sad I say )

BUT,, I am happy with the tier/depth names,,if it ain't broke dont fix it..IMO

Instead...Fix the fishing/fountain/gate keeper areas MORE attainable ..

Vikinghelga..has dam good sugggestions, use some of them Nick

ALSO .. HOW about a nice Title would be nice..and deservingly so for 30 + 50 (80 depths done ) I am on 3/75 depths.

"""""""""at 8PM i was finished depth 3/75, Tier1 going to a seed path ..and volia booted, the dam screen jumped...and screen went back to commons area..UUUMM interesting Indeed..lololol.NOW idk what the hell i get there""""""in depth 4/75..
THIS is the 2nd time the screen has jumped. for me in diff tiers....aye Nick ??????

I wish I would have mentioned this before. There seems to be a lot of players who do not grasp the concept of dungeoning or rebirth or prestige mechanics.

There are many games to play on the web that are extremely simply, but they can teach the concept and principles.

An easy one to try is https://www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/index2.html

"At various levels the exponential growth plateaus, requiring the user to invest resources such as money, raw materials, or computer cycles into inventing another breakthrough to move to the next phase of growth."

If you "get this" then you will understand what the Flungeon is and how it works for resource costs.

Nick, and the Dev team. I like the Flungeon. There could be some tweaks to it, but for the initial PITA, please continue to refine it. For an end game player with nothing else to do, this is the type of challenge needed.

I like the concept of the flungeon - I would like some more choices when it comes to the mechanics of delving through the depths. Being a challenge for the end game user, it would benefit from additional differences to regular game play ! As stated, different types of, and/or choices of puzzles in each field. We have gotten this far in the game, and I think we have earned it! It would benefit from a wider and more rewarding choice of rewards per field. As many have stated - sapphires, xp, and gold we have galore. There are so many wonderful rewards available in this game, the choices for these paths could be boundless:
diamonds - a gold DNA - pristine feed - a VIP voucher - a bush buck, maybe even, rarely, 10 bush bucks - create a couple of mounts and pets specific to the flungeon, and break them into 10 pieces to be collected and use those as rewards - even a question mark field that would have a premium award without the player knowing what it would be. I will probably try to do two fields a day right now, using 5 bbs to solve the puzzle. 100 pieces is too much for me to slog through with any joy. It doesn't keep me on the server longer Nick, it just forces me off :)
I love the bright graphics, and the prestige mechanics, so the flungeon is a keeper, it would certainly benefit from tweaking :)

I agree with Kate. The Flungeon would be so much more fun if we could choose better rewards for the 3 paths. Sapphires, gold, XP is a very small incentive for veteran players.
Here's another reward suggestion: A free puzzle "Insta-Solve!"
