RaymondRule 1. Do not ask your question as a response to someone elses question. Even if the subject is similar your question probably deserves its own answers.
Rule 2. Do not post your question in multiple topics. Rule 3. DO NOT post your topic in multiple sections of this forum, that's an extension of #3 since in essence you are asking multiple times, but it's worse when it's in different sections. Rule 4. Do not delete your topic or post. It may have been wrong or whatever, but people can't follow conversations without all the information available. So if you must, then post another reply stating that you got your answer or whatever it was that caused you in the first place to want to delete your post. Rule 5. Try to make the sucject of your topic self exlpanatory. |

Al AbamaIt appears practicing civility, especially when disagreeing with others, somehow didn't make the cut. hmmmm

Nate DauerAre you talking about "practicing civility" or about the five rules?
If you're talking about "practicing civility", then obviously it does because it's supposed to be a given in any communication circumstance. In that case, it would be like someone saying "alcohol is illegal here" and then responding "so stealing is OK but alcohol isn't?" i.e. you would be committing a fallacy: "It was not stated. Therefore, it does not apply." If you're talking about the five rules, then I would hope you are able to figure out why "Do not delete your topic or post." does not apply to real life interactions... |

Al AbamaI was only speaking on civility. And I'd agree about it being a fallacy if not for the fact that certain individuals tend to not practice it. Due to that, being civil should be rule 1 - so as to not forget.
