The Third Annual Grow-A-Thon has returned to the Commons!
During the event, you can plant, grow and decorate a special area, earning progress for each plant harvested as well as several animals you can request from friends (also worth a small amount of progression points - the Squirrel is available today!). There are *five* judges, who will award you tokens once a day - the more stuff in your garden, the more tokens they award!

New for 2014:
- A big city resident has recently moved to Bushwhackia, and is excited by your gardening efforts. Help him learn how to grow green things!
- Old MacDonald wants to grow some new plants. Help him with is research, and maybe he'll let you keep some of your discoveries!

Get started planning your garden today, the "Gorgeous Garden Contest" officially starts tomorrow! (Check back tomorrow for more details!!)

The Spring Event will run until Friday May 16, 2014 at Noon PDT.

How come when you go onto the page for the contest the top rated gardens at the moment show bears and deer in them yet they haven't been given yet and as I have stated in another thread there are so many blank gardens that by the time you get to a garden that deserves a vote you give up it seems such a waste you should be able to skip past who you don't want to rate, I know there are always some excellent entries but i never reached one before I gave up.

My big question is, where on earth to you acquire/purchase pots, planters, and watering can? So far I have not seen these items available, yet they are required for one of the event achievements.

Thanks Raymond I didn't know that.
Marci next to your inventory at your garden there's a store button and you purchase them from there.

Which plant gives you the most points for the cost?

[Edit: NM, the wiki says violets xD]

not violets, that's the best for speed. but one of the big trees gives about twice the points per seeds cost then anything else.

BUG.
It's possibly to place violets on top of other violets and the other flowers of the same size but different color.
Please implement some was to ;'count' how many we have because I'm not going to return everything to the inventory thus destroying my design, just to see I'm missing some 10 or 20 violets I could use elsewhere.

Incorrect Raymond, the best flower for speed and points per seed is still the violet.

This year I am not so concerned about the points... Last year I got the A+, just barely... This year I'm going for a cool design in my garden. Now whether or not I can pull it off... THAT is going to be the tough part.

why does the position of the first thing in the planting 'store' change each and every time I go to buy a flower?
sometimes its violets, other times its daisies, most times its the trees...
VERY ANNOYING to accidentally buy something I DO NOT WANT TO BUY.

I noticed that it does not always reset after you close that pop up. It is kind of convenient, seeing as I am buying mostly all the same flower anyway.

Possibly been answered at some stage but can't be bothered looking it up. To gain one of the quests for the spring event you need to buy planters etc. What I am asking is... If I buy them and am trying to get critics to evaluate my garden, do I need them in my garden to get maximum support, or can they be in my inventory and I will get the best score possible for my garden?

for the game critics you only need spring points, you need absolutely nothing in your garden at all if you want. its points only, you get those for buying items but you can keep everything in your inventory if you like.
