Speed rating of Actions in battle

This sort of is a branch off of my resolution of battle actions post.

I think it'd be interesting and an enhancement to the game if the attacks/actions actually had a speed value which would affect when they took place in a battle round. For example, it would seem logical than attacks like Flame Strike or Water Blast would take longer to make than Nibble or Slash. This would make battles a lot more strategic than just knowing that XXX is the most powerful attack this creature has and only using that unless you run into a guardian who is strong against that elemental attack.

It would make your decision in battle more interesting. "Do I take the action that almost assures me going first, but only does 15pts damage if it hits? Or do I take the action that is slower but does 29pts damage?" Depending on the situation in the battle your choice would change.

I just think this would make battles more interesting and give a logical and "real" feel to the fantasy game instead of just a "button mashing" mentality to the battles or just deciding your attack based on what your favorite animation is.

Hi Eric,

All actions do have speed ratings, and they work exactly like you are describing. The speed ratings are just not displayed. Displaying them is something we can consider.

Really? It honestly doesn't seem exceptionally noticeable. Every time I thought that there seemed to be a weight to an action something would happen to make me think it was much more random than it should logically be.

Yes, I think displaying these would be a nice addition. It would give something to think about when deciding to keep a skill or delete it or make it a bit easier for those starting out and without dozens of battles with the different attacks to have an idea how they work in the resolution matrix.

I think displaying the speeds is a good idea. From experimenting I've figured out that Bite is faster than Backstab, but it would be nice to see all the speed ratings always. Some things are intuitive (like Quick Attack being fast), but, I'm not sure why some other abilities are faster/slower than others, when they don't have very descriptive names (like bite vs chomp, or puddle vs water blast, etc).

It would also help when making decisions about which abilities to keep or erase. i.e. if a new ability has similar attack power but is way slower, you might not want to erase Bite for it, but it's impossible to know that without seeing the ratings.
