isle vendors and cost

was just wondering how you decide at what cost to sell items?

after the last few days of looking over the stock of various vendors I think a lot of the stuff is well over priced/priced randomly.

a skin/sword for a diamond which is about $95
the chess set (if you the cost holds out the same for all pieces) would run about $75.

the gold cost for things seems a bit high as well, at least on the AG version where we haven't had a year+ to grow our gold reserves.
80,000 to change the color of our walls.

it seems to me that a lot of random numbers are being assigned to things with not much thought to them.

I totally agree. Love the devs, the games and djarts, but the pricing is just too much.

I understand the need to generate profits, but I can't justify this investment. Apps in Google Play cost $1-$5 and to pay almost $26 is too much for me.

If the new items were about $1 ea I could see myself getting some new toys to play with. But for the cost of trying to get 100% of all the items, I can go get a couple of console games for my PS3.

I also agree. Maybe to justify those prices you could offer packs, for example: the 3 themes for your ranch could have been in one purchase @ 100BB as opposed to 100BB each, or packs with various items - a CI, a pet and a theme.

Jason you hit my thoughts right on the head. there are a few things id like to get but the cost in total would be over $250 for the BBs needed. id much rather save the cash for a PS4 in a few months than blow it now on some decorative items.

I think if the costs were lowered more people would buy things. in the end profits would be higher from more people buying at a buck or two than 1 or 2 buying at $20-$30 each.

the only problem I see would be the people that have bought at the prices set now getting angry and not buying in the future if its changed now.

We're happy to share some of the justification for our prices on Amicus. Basically, it splits into 3 tiers.

1) Low level gold/gem items (like the hat rack): These are for everybody. Even relatively new players can pick them up.

2) High level gold/gem items (like the fauxhawk or red hair): These are for players who have been playing for a long time, who have worked hard to earn these items. We have no expectation people would buy diamonds/gold to pay for them, we very much expect people to earn the gold/gems needed. Anybody can earn them.

3) Bush Buck items: Obviously, these are items intended for paying players. We don't expect people to buy everything, but maybe pick up a couple of items they really find special. And even though I say they're for paying players, we do give away a small amount of free BBs, and I know of players saving 150 BBs for the gelatinous cube and other purchaseable pets, so I'm sure some people will save BBs for their favourite items.

If it's not worth it to you, that's perfectly reasonable, and we always welcome feedback on our prices - but we're standing by them, and we certainly put thought into them.

(Also FYI the chess set is more like $7.50 if you wanted to purchase the whole set, not $75)

not from the math I did. 2 sets of tiles and 32 pieces came out to something like 800 BBs(if the cost of all pieces will be the same as the knights). on AG 520 bush bucks is $50.

one knight on AG was 25BBs. 4(2white 2balck) would be 100 BBs, thats $10 right there not even counting the 2 tile packs.

Oh! Little misunderstanding there. The cost for the chess pieces gives you EVERY piece in that colour - all 16! You're not just buying a knight.

that not what the tip said when I hovered.

if thats the case its much more realistic for the chess set.

I still think things costing diamonds or emeraldsx2 is a bit excessive. over on AG we have not over a year to build these reserves of excess gems and gold.

You will eventually have had a year, though. Like I said, those items are intended as an goal for players who have been playing a long time - likely players who are near the end of the current content. You might not be at the point where you can pick one up yet, but you will be, if you carry on. As Amicus Island is separated by platform, it's not as if you'll see somebody who has had a chance to play for much longer than you running around with all the custom items on!
