Can I not flee a fight?

Wasn't there an option to flee?? I wasted a lot of energy this morning when I started the game in a fight I was in when I ran out of energy yesterday. My guardians were all at minimal health, though I had defeated 2 of the guardians yesterday and likely would have won the fight if I had more energy. When I came in today ... all three had full health. Needless to say, all three of my guardians fainted, but I had to waste a lot of energy to get out of the fight, when all I wanted to do was run away.

Couldn't we flee in the alpha version? Am I just not seeing where that option is, or it gone? If it's gone ... Why???

Hi Elise,

Flee is currently only available for random battles (not battles with trainers). We may revise this, because we did talk about it after the alpha.

As far as leaving in the middle of a battle it really shouldn't be possible for what you are describing to happen. Every round of the battle is commited to the server and effects are applied at that time. SO that means that if you had defeated 2 of the guardians they should have been defeated when you came back, BUT if they were not then the actions that should have defeated them must not have been commited, but that would mean the damage they did to your guardians would not have been recorded... there is no way that damage against you would have been recorded without the damage you did being recorded as well. So in this case is it possible you are remembering the state of the battle from yesturday? (not that we won't keep our eyes and ears open for other reports of this, just that it seems very unlikely)

the flee button is on the top right of the dialog box. but you have to flee before the battle begins; I think that once you start the battle you cannot flee

It's possible that I am remembering incorrectly :)

It was the battle with the three guardians and the seed truck guy.

The ability to flee THAT battle seems like it should be available. I didn't know there would be a battle immediately when I talked to the guy. My guardians were not in a state to fight three other guardians. So .. I went into the battle, used all my remaining energy (since I was unable to flee) logged in today, and had to use up 7 more energy just to get to a point where all my guardians had fainted and then I got out of the battle. Seems extremely unfair that I was forced to use energy on a battle I knew I couldn't win, and basically lost all of my remaining energy yesterday and 7 energy as soon as I started today. That is clearly not how I would have chosen to spend that energy if I had any say in the matter. One energy to flee would have been perfectly acceptable to me in that situation. At least when you battle ea trainer you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

Hi Elise,

Originally we had it so you couldn't flee trainer battles because that would allow you to get past the blocking ones without fighting them. However when we added the chat option to say no to any trainer who wanted to battle we fixed that problem. So now it would be possible to flee. We discussed this right after the alpha and I think we decided that it would be OK to flee most trainers. So I will see about getting this on the todo list on Monday.
