Marc LevacIs it possible that a trinket's value is actually lower than listed? I've equipped all my puzzle finding trinkets, and the lowest value one says it still gives me a 0.1 increased chance, but when I equip it, there's no change in my listed % chance.

Raymondthey go down over time as you level up, the wiki has a table. but perhaps the 0.1 is actually 0.05 rounded up where displayed in one location but not rounded and therefore 0 when displayed elsewhere.
standard programing errors might apply... |

No, when you deal with rounded numbers you won't necessarily see the value displayed. And to expand this conversation just a little, trinket efficiency gets better the higher your level is. The % value might appear to decrease, but your trinkets actually perform better when you level up. |

Marc Levac"trinket efficiency gets better the higher your level is. The % value might appear to decrease, but your trinkets actually perform better when you level up."
I don't think so... You need to explain. "For example, the Increases your Gold Odds Rating by 400. At level 100 Trinket rating is 50%. 400/50 = 8. Therefore the would give you an 8% increase to find ." Basically the example trinket at level one would be 400/1 giving you a 400% chance, versus the 8% 100 levels later. Or are you saying the % chances add to each other over time? I can't see that being true, or else with nothing trinkets, you'd always find something. |

Marc LevacHeck there's an idea. BB buyable special trinkets that aren't affected by level. Nothing higher than 15-20%, but long term.

jpl77I'm saying check the wiki (link I posted) to cross reference the 'rating' or 'efficiency' of the trinkets. We haven't updated the numbers to show the latest update from level 115 to level 130, but the efficiency rating for level 130 is 140.
You have to be realistic in your application of the formula. As a level 1 player do you have the ability to equip a trinket that has a rating of 400? No you don't, so practically speaking, you would never see or have the ability to test that, because you are limited by the game design. |

Marc LevacI did check the wiki. Nothing there indicates your trinkets perform better. Just shows the trinkets odds rating divided by the increased level rating, which ends up being smaller increased odds as you level.

jpl77It does indicate it, and it just seems we are in a repeating loop here with our comments. The wiki has the game information for Trinket ratings.
Go here: http://bw2ps2.djartsgames.ca/~bushwhacker2/post.php?current_version=1.13&call=getDefinitions Scroll to the bottom and you will see: "level_trinket_rating_defines":{"1":"1","2":"1.04","3":"1.08","4":"1.12","5":"1.17","6":"1.21","7":"1.25","8":"1.29","9":"1.33","10":"1.37","11":"1.42","12":"1.5","13":"1.54","14":"1.58","15":"1.62","16":"1.67","17":"1.71","18":"1.75","19":"1.79","20":"1.83","21":"1.87","22":"1.92","23":"1.96","24":"2","25":"2.13","26":"2.27","27":"2.39","28":"2.53","29":"2.67","30":"2.8","31":"2.93","32":"3.06","33":"3.2","34":"3.33","35":"3.46","36":"3.6","37":"3.73","38":"3.86","39":"4","40":"4.27","41":"4.53","42":"4.8","43":"5.07","44":"5.33","45":"5.6","46":"5.87","47":"6.13","48":"6.4","49":"6.67","50":"6.93","51":"7.2","52":"7.47","53":"7.73","54":"8","55":"8.4","56":"8.8","57":"9.2","58":"9.6","59":"10","60":"10.4","61":"10.8","62":"11.2","63":"11.6","64":"12","65":"12.8","66":"13.6","67":"14.4","68":"15.2","69":"16","70":"16.8","71":"17.6","72":"18.4","73":"19.2","74":"20","75":"20.8","76":"21.6","77":"22.4","78":"23.2","79":"24","80":"25.2","81":"26.4","82":"27.6","83":"28.8","84":"30","85":"31.2","86":"32.4","87":"33.6","88":"34.8","89":"36","90":"37.2","91":"38.4","92":"39.6","93":"40.8","94":"42","95":"43.2","96":"44.4","97":"45.6","98":"46.8","99":"48","100":"50","101":"52","102":"54","103":"56","104":"58","105":"60","106":"62","107":"64","108":"66","109":"68","110":"70","111":"72","112":"74","113":"76","114":"78","115":"80","116":"84","117":"88","118":"92","119":"96","120":"100","121":"104","122":"108","123":"112","124":"118","125":"120","126":"124","127":"128","128":"132","129":"136","130":"140"} Ok, so let's take a hypothetical trinket I created in my head: "Magic Magic" which increase Mana odds by 1000. If player A is at level 100 and player B is at level 130 here is the difference the levels makes on the trinket: Player A = 1000 odds / 100 rating = +10% increase Mana odds Player B = 1000 odds / 140 rating = +7.1% increase Mana odds The rating of the trinket (efficiency) increases as you level up, however due to the way the devs calculate the odds, it will result in a lower % odds. If it wasn't designed this way, you would never change your trinkets from your original set, and therefore you wouldn't be interested in new trinkets. As you level up, the lowered % odds are offset by newly unlocked trinkets that have increased odds. |

Heck there's an idea. BB buyable special trinkets that aren't affected by level. - You already have one, your Pet/Companion.... they are unaffected by your level. |

Marc LevacSo when you said, "your trinkets actually perform better when you level up", you meant the "newly unlocked trinkets that have increased odds". Gotcha.
Yeah, the pets do function like that, though you can only have one at a time. They also take awhile to level up and reach higher stats than trinkets. My maxed out nothing reindeer is 25% odds, whereas a trinket at 10% would be a reasonable diff between 8 slots vs 1. |

RaymondJason, you're the one talking circles here.
"but your trinkets actually perform better when you level up" and "it will result in a lower % odds" calling it efficiency is like calling it snot, its not efficiency increasing if % is decreasing. |

I was simply referring to the terms written in the wiki. I contribute to the wiki, but was not the author of the trinket efficiency article. Every time this topic comes up there is confusion between efficiency and effectiveness. If you don't like how it is written than change it. But for now, it is the only source of the information for the topic we are talking about. The devs can pop in anytime for clarification. For now I will use the term 'Trinket Bonus' as that is what the devs have called in game when you are looking at your inventory screen. What we know for sure: Trinkets have Odds For a given player level there is a corresponding trinket rating Trinket Bonus = Trinket Odds / Trinket Rating As you increase in level, trinket rating increases |

Raymondbut you yourself said "but your trinkets actually perform better when you level up" and that quite clearly is NOT TRUE.
That's Gallifrey 'rising' when its quite clearly falling on Earth, and the cyberplanet 'exploding' when its quite clearly called an implosion bomb. if you are talking about 'other' trinkets', then you might be right, but I DO NOT get a new trinket every Level I go up so as to have something, or 8 somethings better to use. And I can say my new car actually performs better, but I don't have a new car yet. this is not just the confusion of calling something efficiency when effectiveness or performance is what one thinks about. |
