I think fishing in this game is incredibly boring. Well, along that note, I think fishing in real life is boring too, so I guess I'm not the best judge of it. =P I always cringe and groan when I see the fishing dailys pop up, and I wish there was a way I could PAY someone to do it for me, just so I wouldn't have to do it myself. lol

Well, I propose an item that will set up a bot to fish for you. Make it set on a timer so we still have to come back to it if we want it to keep going, like say every ten bait it stops and requires a prompt to keep going for another ten, and so forth. Heck, you can even make the bait cost twice as much and I'd still pay for it. And make the bot item something to buy with bush bucks. Make it a trinket! I don't know, just make it please! =P How many votes can I get for this brilliant suggestion?? ^_^

~Skye

P.S. We should name it Kaoru Tenjin. Just sayin. ;)

no bots here ever, this is a game for humans, that's why BW2 fishing is the way it is because people were using bots in BW1 for fishing.
Here the fishing Achievements you earn and it takes your patience to do so. And I believe he (or actually I think she) who you named is close to getting 100,000 casts, that takes a LOT of patience. What a rip it would be if bots were implemented and in a week or so hundreds of other people get that Achievement without 'earning' it.

That's easy to resolve: make the bot casts not count toward any fishing achievements. I think Kaoru is very dedicated, and that's very admirable - she deserves that achievement, I agree. I'll never get it. I'll never come halfway. lol

Fishing is such a minor part of the game though. It's not like I'm suggesting an item that whacks bushes for you or does the puzzles for you (although insta-solve already exists). It's really just something that would help us with the dailys, or if someone was really interested, maybe the customization items. But make the bot so expensive that only the really really interested people would buy it. If it is too expensive people would only use it on rare occasions, when they really don't want to be bothered to do the dailys themselves, or if they have tons of cash to burn. Most people would still be like "yeah not paying for that I'll just do it myself." Like the puzzle insta-solve. It is there if people want the shortcut, but let's be honest how many of us really use it? Certainly not on every single puzzle! The flux puzzles I might consider it though. =P

p.s. Just skip the fishing daily quests if you don't like them. Nothing and nobody is forcing you to do them. Heck, even the town crier will tell you what daily quests there are and you can decide there to skip or not. Before you had to go to the spots and ask, and doing that I almost always accidentally started said quests instead of what I intended.

Now back to the bot suggestion. No matter how hard they make it, it will not work. I like having to fish hundreds or thousands of casts to earn the few CI's each fishing spot holds. Again its my own choice to try to get them and in some cases I et them in the first cast and others have taked days of going back and casting thousands of times to collect something.

In BW1, those people who did not use bots, did as you suggested, paid someone to fish for them. Well they had their kids do it for them. If you must do every daily quest then perhaps this is the way for you to do so.

My suggestion for the fishing improvement is something else.

A "fishing chair" that automaticly cast the rod for you. But it does not reel it in or collect the reward for you. That is something you still need to do manually.

The problems are not the quests or the achievements, we know we can skip quests (not me, I like those quests) and if bots casts are not counted you still have to fish on your own.

The real problem is that fishing is damn slow. What do you say to upgrade to that old stick... in a BETTER FISHING ROD that can cast two lines at the same time? I know it's a bit stange but I was wondering about it since the beginning. It's almost time to upgrade that piece of junk...
The cost of baits it's still the same, only your speed increase.

What do you say?

Actually, an upgraded fishing rod is on my list already and is something we are strongly considering!

A bot is likely going too far, because fishing basically amounts to free energy. Now, if somebody wants to put the work in and fish for hours a day like Kaoru (Kaoru do you really want a bot to do your fishing or just want a bot named after you? lol), then it's safe to say they earned that extra energy, but if somebody's just coming back to click once and let the bot keep on fishing for them, well... that feels counter to the spirit of the game.

Kaoru is such a fishing god that if there was a bot we all unanimously agree that it should be named after her! ;) I really didn't believe that you would go so far as to create a bot, but there has to be some sort of middle ground here we can find? The only time I do the fishing dailies is when it's for the companion egg hatch quest. I really love every other aspect of this game, but I for some reason just cannot enjoy the fishing part! =( Which is a bummer, because I lose out on things like free energy, customization items, daily quests, and companion pets if I don't fish at least a little bit. I think Luca hit on the problem, it's too slow to be enjoyable. I'm good for the first ten casts or so, then I lose interest. I have no more ideas right now, but there has to be a way to spice up fishing a bit. =P I guess that is what I was really hoping for by starting this thread -- to get some ideas from all the people who find fishing as tedious as I do.

It's not that I hate fishing (in fact I really like the "free" part) but surely it would be more enjoyable if it wasn't so slow...

P.S: WOW, someone here really wants a new fishing rod...

I'm happy with what i can get when it comes to fishing, but anything that makes the fun experience of fishing more enjoyable is fine by me =3

Does anyone here remember when fishing cost real money? I don't because I didn't start playing until late July, but I remember the posts.

How about the fact that if we pull the rod too early we lose our bait.
This doesn't happen in real life fishing and I've lost heaps of bait over the time by this.
