Btw, the Spring Chicken in this Spring Event 2013 will be able to convert into a pet.

I forget but what exactly does an unconverted pet do? I.E. you can place converted pets into your yard and they move around, can't you do the same with unconverted ones? Isn't the only difference be that you can be equipped with converted ones?

Raymond, that is pretty much the only difference. An unconverted pet can be placed in your yard to wander at will, just as the converted pets can be. The only difference is that you cannot equip and level up an unconverted pet. Unconverted pets also do not have any special powers.

On that note, a word of caution. When you place your converted pets (and any other hatched pet) into your yard, be careful as you click to place your customization items and be careful when you click to harvest your crops. Those little guys want your attention and will sometimes end up nearby while you are there doing your thing. When this happens you may just accidentally equip them. Keep an eye on them :)

I got all of my pets locked up behind hedges ... all stay there.

I even got my farm plots behind hedges, so that my character will stand still and till them all from the point of entree.

Raymond - Marci summed it up, they just weren't equippable and didn't have powers. We just offered the opportunity to convert them because those pets were released before the companion system was put in place.
