There is always talk of that in the chat, but nobody seems to know if the standard speed trinkets have any effect in the holiday hunt area. If this is like bw1's arena then nothing other then the Easter distractions should have any effect.
Here are the speed trinkets I have, have only been in the Flux half of 4.0 and all of 5.0.
raven feathers 40%
boots of bacon 50%
peacock wing 50% (chat has an obscenity filter)
flux clunky rocket 55%

Are there any other prior flux ones I'm missing?

p.s. they also suggest unequiping your pet during the hunt.
I've done all this and also have all 5 distractions and still only get 16 eggs at most.

Yup, got 19 of the 20 eggs this time.
But when I returned my trinkets back to my normal set my speed still seemed high. The numbers in the trinket summary were correct and didn't show any speed boost but I am still fast.
Will have to see if this sticks around after I load the game again. Probably flash not catching up to reality.

The same effect happened when using chrome, I normally use firefox but used chrome to check out this 'feature'.
The speediness lasts as long as you are in the game even after removing those trinkets. And if you use the ghostly one too and take that away, you remain ghostly.

Is this 'memory leakage' in flash? Why does it happen in different browsers?

Also, have "run" enabled under your options and run to the position in front of the bush first, then while on your way click on the hidden spot.
