It costs gold to make gold.
I understand it costing gold to make energy, but I think one should sacrifice energy to make gold.

Or the other way around. Spend gold to make gold, and spend energy to make energy.

And I know its been asked before, but will we ever be able to farm for gems?

But how is it when you farm in real life? Spend money (gold) to make more money (gold). Spend money (gold) to get more food (energy).

"It costs money to make money" is a pretty popular saying, isn't it? Same goes for gold in BW2 farming! The crops have a pretty good profit margin as is.
