And don't you think the Pets are WAY more powerful then trinkets? I have one almost at Level 10 and it decreases Nothings by something like 7%, over and above whatever trinkets I already have.

And these ones don't lose strength as you level up. Of course, the new area we're working on right now will also come with brand new trinkets for your trinket slots, so your equipment will be refreshed soon enough.
