Flux trinkets:do they drop if you already have the "normal" version of a trinket

Do Flux trinkets drop if you already have that trinket's "normal" version in your inventory? For example, my silvered fruit knife has a rating of 100, the Flux one is 120. Will it simply not drop, or will it drop and replace my silvered fruit knife, or will I end up with two separate ones?
