Ruth OrozcoHey y'all, what are spawning quest items? Is that like the crows and crabs that you have to go whack? I was going to use my spell, but it says it won't work on spawned items...thanks!

RaymondLast Edited December 14th 2011 at 1:06 PM Crabs, Crows, Carrots, Mining Metal Ores, Lucas, Speedy Turtles, Chum, Bats, Seismological Reports, Blue Topazes, Rotten Eggs, Monkey, Pear, Missing Villagers, Coconuts, the Bandits Booze, jigsaw Puzzle Monsters (not the Pieces) and other things that 'spawn', that is all the things that 'appear' in a square for you to whack.
These things appear when they feel like it, some appear at exactly specific amounts of Energy used, some at exactly specific number of gates passed through, others are totally random. But none of these things have 'odds' that can be improved by any spell. Spells would effect the non-spawned things. Things that appear inside Bushes or Beasts. Things like the Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces, Customization Items, much of what appears in the Lost City, Bat Eyes, Lotus Flowers and the other thing for the cauldron, Library Book, Armor Scraps, the 3 kinds of cave Gems, Water of whatever and cave Ruby, Seaweed, Coral, Flower, Enlarging Potion, Frogs and other things that appear randomly upon whacking some Bush or Beast. These are random too but these have 'odds' of appearing so Spells can help these. |

RaymondLast Edited December 14th 2011 at 2:13 PM Ah my sieve of a mind forgot 2 items, both of the non-spawning kind, the Oxygen Mask and perhaps the most imporatnt one the Statue Fragments. Those appear based on the total number of bushes Whacked. When I was whacking Value 1 bushes exclusively to reach a million, I had gotten perhaps 20 of those, but when doing the max value bushes (18) I have perhaps obtained one of those. With the Spell I wonder how much morecommon those would be.
So another way to distinguish spawned items vs non spawned ones would be, if you can see it and can screen capture it and it has a cost, then it's a spawning kind and has no odds. If you can only see it in the instant it it hit from a bush and it has no cost in and of itself and can only ever screen capture it from your win history or play history then it's a non-spawning kind and the odds of it happening can be modified. |

Nate DauerMining Metals and Lucas and Turtles aren't *really* "spawning" things, they're just things that randomly appear when you go from space to space regardless of whether or not you've whacked something. Random encounter is probably a better term for such things since they don't actually 'spawn'.
I don't know if the bandit's booze could be put in any of those categories either since it will ALWAYS appear in the same spot (unless a random encounter is "covering" it). Spawning typically refers to the things that appear after you whack for "x" amount of energy, so yes, you were right on about the crabs and the crows. |

RaymondYes you are right. And a lot more of those items can be categorized that way.
Lets call them motion sensitive spawned items, and in essence they are a lot like the spawned items and not like the non-spawned items. These motion sensitive items don't actually require you to whack anything to get them to appear, but you do have to whack them. These include the Mining Metal Ores, Chum, Racing Turtles, Bats, Seismological Reports, Missing Villagers, Blue Topaz, Monkey (I think but I'm always bush whacking anyway) and yes the Bandit Booze (you do have to go back and forth a few times to get it to spawn). I think even the Giant is in this category since you can get it to happen just by going in and out of 2 squares up to perhaps 100 times. The Treasure Chest is a regular spawned item since you have to actually whack thousands of Bushes to get it to happen. Rotten Eggs and Coconuts are even a 4'th category, they are always there. Add to the non-spawned things the Weeds in the Twisted Vineyard and the Ruin Fragments in the Jungle. |

Nate DauerRotten Eggs? I don't remember those... But yeah, "Chum" could kind of go with the Coconuts, though there do seem to be times when I'll whack over 10 of them and another won't appear until I enter a different area - this has only been the case with Chum though, not coconuts. I've always just assumed it to be some sort of minor glitch or something. Very odd.

RaymondRotten Eggs is the Scientists breakfast.
The Chum is random, sometimes you can do only a few in a row, sometimes a dozen before it runs 'dry'. But next door is always some more. |
