I often use a touchpad to play, which makes my clicks less precise. As I switch between the whacking buttons, it's common for me to miss and instead click the space between them, which, if there happens to be land I can reach there, makes me walk off the field.

I propose surrounding the four whacking buttons with a rectangle of the maroon background to solve this problem. This would slightly decrease the area that you can click on to travel from the field, but as the buttons disappear when you leave the field, I don't think it would be a large problem.
