this is the way it has been for the vast majority of the players of this game which initially was invented on facebook and no place else way back in April 2012. each zone of the game has at least one roadblock per globe map square. there are on the order of 90 of those.

This was posted by my friend Cybersix, before she donated her account to me, the Viking... : Hi not Raymond, Are you a Dev? No? What´s with the constant sugarcoating of problems??? I am not addressing you, obviously a huge fan of the game. I am addressing the people that should be worried to loose the whole customer base recently migrating from BFG as the majority of those customers will not want to participate in the silly friend-me, help-me, save-me nonsense that FB players love so much. I don´t care if you had to play this way since the beginning of time. I never had to go around begging other people to help play a game as I would never stoop to this level of childish behavior and I was quite satisfied at BFG. The game, as it is here at Codegame became unplayable. I won't now start to bother grown up people just so I can progress in a make believe world. I wish the Dev's would consider giving us (BFG players) our nice solo game back.

the forums are a user thing. users post and users reply. sometimes the devs reply too. but to get direct answers to direct questions the forums are not the way to go.
p.s. if you look at how many posts i have been part of you will see i am quite knowledgeable. oh, and i have no love for the devs, they mostly do not like me but as a long time player since bets testing in March 2012 and being in the top 5 players i do know quite a lot and others like my answers.

i understand that the change that the DEvs have made is distasteful to many, something they had no control of, blame BFG for going defunct of canceling the game on their site (i do not know details). the Devs have brought forth this game as this game HAS been for the VAST majority of players, something like over 200k daily active players back when one could see those stats.

This was posted by my friend Cybersix, before she donated her account to me, the Viking... : Hi not Raymond, I understand your position, but please try to understand ours. I am not "blaming" anyone. Codename is a business and as such, I would hope, it´ll be interested in trying to preserve their customer base. Again, I want to point out, that how the game has been played by other gamers on other platforms has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the customer migrating from BFG had a completely different (and vastly better) experience than any other platform. For many, the reason we were playing this game at BFG was exactly because the friend-system didn´t exist there.
About your P.S. I can see you are knowledgeable about the game and I am very happy for you, but please try to understand that saying "it has always been like this for me and all other players from FB" does not ameliorate the problem in the least and belittles the issue, which is not a small one. Not small for the players and not small for the company, who may very well loose said players. If you like the game as it is you are obviously not being inconvenienced by the changes.
As a customer, however who spent years of time and hundreds of dollars on this game, I am appalled at the "take it as it is and don't complain" response.

Cybersix.. the devs are not telling us Big Fishers not to complain. They understand it is hard for us. It is a major change. **HUGS**

My issue was with the user that responded to various complaints coming from BFG customers with a dismissive " it has always been like this out here and on FB". ***HUGs*** back : )

Hi Cybersix2PointOh,

We understand that some of these changes will be quite jarring, but we believe that the version of the game on the Codename Games site contains the most fun and interesting aspects, including some important pieces that were missing from BigFish (such as the ability to get trinket crafting materials). We think if you give the new features a shot, you'll find they aren't intrusive or limiting, but rather give you more options for play and more ways to interact with the people you're playing with.

As always we'll be paying attention to feedback from you folks and making changes if we feel they're necessary. We can tell you are passionate and we want to deliver you a game that you'll continue to be passionate about.

Dear Justin, thanks for your reply.
Sadly, I will never, ever, interact with other players to beg them for help. Sorry. This is childish needy behavior present only in social media. No normal functioning human being acts like that in real life. The need to complete a grid with 9+ "friends" is very intrusive and unbelievably limiting and if this is what it takes to get over a simple silly obstacle in the game, that game becomes unplayable and to my intense frustration will become impossible to proceed. I absolutely do not care for trinket crafting materials, but I miss the energy packs (the loss of which I could eventually accept were it not for the "social" aspect of the game that is being forced upon BFG players who, I repeat, do not play games to socialize.) I am very sorry that the response to these problems was simply "give it a shot". This means nothing will be done to improve the playability of the game and people like me will just fall to the wayside. Wow, am I sorry I wasted so much time and money to have the experience end like this. I wish I could have at least finished the game.

the 'social' aspect of the game can with 25 friends give you a max daily of 25 energy packs each 10% of your energy max. which is 250% over and above your own actual energy each and every day.
and with 250 friends can give you 250 quick whacks wherever you want to whack, once every 5 days. use those all at once or whenever you want, each has a timer making next use 5 days for each. simple calculation with my max energy and bush costs in flux, this is an additional 10.8x max energy every 5 days or over 2x daily equivalent.

As Justin stated.. the friends requests thing is not intrusive.. which is one of the reasons I personally don't like a lot of games which require friends.. but I'm finding I'm enjoying this version of the game. Still a few things I'm not totally pleased with.. but more than enough extra benefits I was not expecting to make up for those things.

I hope all my friends from BFG at least give it a try. I know we will lose a few players.. but one thing I've noticed is that a lot of people who'd stopped playing are back and enjoying themselves.

It really is GREAT to see chat so lively and fun again!

Cybersix, I am a long time player and for several years I played with a small list of friends in the game. When I hit a road block I'de work the bonus areas to give the road block some time. Friends can help in more than one slot on a rod block if you let some time pass. So it is doable with a short list of in game friends.

I've been busy so Im not sure what this change is about. I play on FB and I gather that you don't or I'd offer to friend you for the game. In FB it is possible to maintain a list of BW2 friends that doesn't see all your posts that go to your RL friends.

Also I've never felt that I was begging when it came to friending.

One of the things i like most about this game is the message board and the availability of the Devs.

Change can be rattling. Every so often I've felt the need to up my game one way or another so recently I increase my number of BW2 friends. I had resisted for a long time and finally wanted to do the road blocks more quickly.

I'm hoping that the Devs will gift you with some road Block help as you transition. I've had the sense that the rad blocks would end my play here ... It never happened and I always adjusted but I realize that the shift for you is much more sudden than anything I experienced.

This was posted by my friend Cybersix, before she donated her account to me, the Viking... : @Greg Lloyd, I am fine with losing the 5 packs of energy. Not pleased by it, but I could accept that if it weren´t for roadblocks that used to be innocuous and now present 9 slots to fill with "friends". I see people are adjusting and adding people to their game... I guess I am just different that way. I am not used to bother people for favors, not in Real Life and not online.
@Rebecca, you are a dear and I do understand that even with a small list of friends you can go on. I´d totally "friend" you in real life, for your kindness. Duckie and Greg too. You all seem to be lovely people I´d love to have over for tea or whiskey. ;) The thing is... I´d love to finish the game... get to the flux... but I won´t add "friends". I don't play games to socialize. I play games to do the opposite. I love people I love to chat and talk in person. Gaming is the one thing aside from reading books where I can be by myself and I really do not want to give up my privacy. I don´t want to feel obligated to reciprocate... be thoughtful and nice... remember to send packs and gifts to everyone... and thank people.... I was completely happy that I could just click on NPCs that do not have feelings, whack around, click my mouse for an hour and then come back into the world where everything else is not about me. That was one little corner of paradise that now is lost. Sorry... but I think that this was extremely cruel from CE to foist the new system on all BFG players and just tell us to "give it a shot". I play games since Sierra made text based adventure games. I know what I like and what I donpt like. Plus.. this game is not the only one in existence. I loved it. A lot. Spent a great deal of cash (happily) on it. And I will miss it. But if I can´t play alone, that´s it for me.

This was posted by my friend Cybersix, before she donated her account to me, the Viking... : @Greg Lloyd - Yeah... so I can´t use FB to play games. It's professionally not feasible. If I do that, I lose RL clients. I guess that's something that doesn't occur to some devs... there are some of us out there that just can't misbehave on social media... not even a little bit. No pictures of dogs or cats doing cutsie things... no gaming... no "i just ate this"... no baby pictures... nothing of the sort. I have a FB account to be able to log in when needed. I post nothing except work related, carefully worded comments. So yeah... can't do that... I'd have to add people directly and I really would prefer bots. You seem to be a lovely person and I am happy the friend system isn't that much of a problem for you. ; )

This was posted by my friend Cybersix, before she donated her account to me, the Viking... : @Duckie - Wow, military... your friend has probably more restrictions than I do. But, you know, sometimes I think people generally should be a little more careful. A friend of mine, who is (was) a counselor for big companies... advising in mergers and such... got a little FB-happy in the last election and lost all his corporate clients. The two or three people who remain aren't enough for him to make a living. He has gone literally bankrupt and is selling his house to be able to survive. His reputation is ruined.I doubt he will be able to rebuild it.
