I chose to go with a high quest items rather than less nothings (34.9% overall pet, trinkets & mount). I only used cheap bait. I averaged 1.5 fish per minute. I would get streaks of getting 3-4 fish in a row. It wasn't that bad, but I don't mind fishing. It was worth it for the reward. I was going to add this to the Official Fishing Haters thread but it's closed. I wrote this for players who haven't gotten to it yet. This quest isn't as daunting it seems. If other's have techniques that worked well for them please share. I love there are so many ways to accomplish quests. Happy whacking/fishing everyone :)
Lvl 440 "Other Peoples Problem Solver!" 5565 Posts	Link to post - Posted March 10th 2018 at 8:50 AM Raymond i am pretty sure bait does not matter. and pretty sure trinkets/sword/pet/mount odds also do not matter. here is why i think so, i have -100% less gold from runes of charity and -100% less nothings. when fishing the hermits quest or any fishing i get junk (nothings) and gold too. when whacking bushes i get no nothings and no gold, none at all. and when gambling on amicus i get no nothings and no gold, none at all. swap out my trinkets and those 'none at all' instantly change to 'some, or lots'. you can see that fishing is somehow different. but perhaps quest items odds may help with the michin fishing.

Your observations do make me wonder if it matters at all though with fishing quests. Is the rune of charity rune one that is made? I need to put some time into making runes. I have experimented a little, but not enough. 100% less gold would be great to have. Thank you!
Lvl 440 "Other Peoples Problem Solver!" 5565 Posts	Link to post - Posted March 10th 2018 at 9:51 AM Raymond rune of charity one gets the recipe for in the flux super expensive store, making the rune itself just uses some rune powders unlike some other special runes. it's small is like other smalls 3 day 3% nothings rune is a standard one and actually is called void.
