Map Icons for Random Encounters

How about, for "random encounter" quests (the giant and the treasure chest being the only two I can think of), there be icons that float above whatever area they are in? This would definitely make keeping track of them easier for everyone.

I decided it would be easier to SHOW what I mean than to describe it, so here are some poorly-photoshopped examples of what it would (roughly) look like...

Is something wrong with the totally satisfactory 'Show Active Quests'?

But I do like the idea of seeing something in a 'portal' that represents a whole separate area.

You do get a marker once the quest is complete. I don't see a reason to want to go visit the giant while my pals are still busy taking shots at him.

I know that I have experienced request failure more than once with the giant. What this means is that I have to wait for the request feature to time out to allow me to invite my friends to "take shots at him". And during that time none (or not enough) of my friends have received requests.

So I vote yes to a marker for "random encounter" quests that are active. It would take some of the fun out of trying to help others or hunting for the giant... but it would solve my missing giant situations

Ah, I hadn't thought of the having to re-send requests. However, do the giant and treasure chest show up on the map's "Show Active Quests" when they're going? If so, that feature is already there (as much as I hate to back up Raymond on one of his current pet peeves).

After I posted it I realized that the area will highlight so long as it is an actual mapped zone... if it is part of a mini zone it will highlight when the map is up... the only trouble comes when the giant, or chest spawn in un mapped areas like the freezer or bandit camp

And if it's in the bandit camp, you can't do anything about it until you get to that quest again.

I lost Lucas the other day - realized after playing through a few quests the he had to have shown up at some point. That is one quest that doesn't show up on the map, so I had to go back through all those hidden zones, looking for where I may have lost him. I finally found him in the cornfiled (Oz).

If you exit BW, Lucas will park himself in your inventory, so no reason to go hunt for him.

Monica, I hadn't whacked him yet, so he wasn't in my bag. I just plain didn't see him when I went thru there. Which is odd - the little brat is normally right in the way!

Yes, the reason I mentioned the 'Show Active Quests' in my reply to this post is exactly because that feature is the one and kind of instantly useful way to find in particular the Giant and the Chest. I wouldn't have said so otherwise.
As for some other Quests, yes Lucas can me forced to remain prisoner in the Bandit Camp or to appear in some other unmapped squares and that quest, since it covers every square in the game, like many of the mining ores, does not have a Map show active quest entry. And unlike say the Turkeys, once spawned he stays in that square instead of following you to any square you go to.
