That's correct. Her own statement of "I've tried all the zones surrounding the Haunted Village" shows that she's looking there. But actually not 'all around' since below is the Snowy Zones.
But I'm wondering if she got that one and really needs the Scientists Castle one, I seem to remember the name of that zone also containing the word Haunted in addition to actually having other multiple names like the 2 other zones before that one.

It never took me more than 1,000 Energy in ANY area for any of these, and that's as much as 1,000 Bushes or as little as 83 bushes, as long as I was in the right area.

The Desert are the 8 squares close to The Oasis.
The Desert City also known as Lost City and who knows how many other names, are the 8 squares close to The Arena.

Check to be sure that you actually don't have the Gem, your Quest Log should show you what you have and what you don't, but if it doesn't then those should be in your Inventory.
