KameRoseLast Edited April 9th 2017 at 3:03 AM The post by Viktyr Gehrig (http://forum.codenameentertainment.com/?thread_id=13715) about adding a pause button got me thinking of an alternate option.
A free pass card that will allow you to pass any objective you use it on. The free pass would be in a special Jeweled Chest and would be applied to whatever objective you open it on. The special chest could be offered in a flash sale so it can be set at a different price point than traditional chests. So instead of buying a $20 pack and getting two GEs and 10 chests you would get one special chest to complete any objective and 10 regular chests, or something along those lines. Design idea for the special chest: a big green check mark to remind the player why it's there. |

snowI don't think pay to win is the way to go in games.

thedudeLast Edited April 9th 2017 at 9:07 AM I agree with snow. Pay to win is bad. If they are going to make these things, I would recommend three things.
1) $20 for a pass and ten jeweled chests or 500 rubies for just the pass chest. 2) You do not get the reward for the objective 3) You can only use one per formation per objective level. The first stops it from being p2w and lets free players use the option if they work at it. The second and third would stop people from abusing it. |

KameRoseI don't subscribe to pay to win either. And as there is no leader board in this game it really wouldn't make a difference to other players. I just thought that a free pass to an objective stored in a chest would be simpler for CNE to implement then adding a pause button or some of the other ideas I've seen.
As for number 1 that price seems kinda low to me since that is the reward for completing less than two objectives, maybe three at most. Which makes me wonder if $20 for a pass and ten jeweled chests is too cheap, but that's for CNE to fret about. Number 2 I completely agree with. That will make them useless on recruitment objectives. Not sure on number 3. Maybe a cooldown, where the flash sale only appears once a month. That would allow a player to use it on any objective they want, but they are limited by only being able to buy it once a month. I sure wasn't thinking of a player being able to buy a bunch of them at once. |

Viktyr GehrigLast Edited April 9th 2017 at 1:46 PM What about, instead of something that comes in chests-- paid or not-- it costs you idols (permanent idols) like a respec? No freebies, no idols or rubies or chests, you just sacrifice 20% of your total idols or more, and taking a respec if you don't have the idols unspent, and the objective goes away forever.
Perhaps a formula like 20% of your total idols, plus a fixed number of idols equal to the number of objectives you've bypassed, squared and multiplied by 1,000. As much as I *want* this option, it needs to be hideously expensive. While I have been *very* critical of what I consider to be a very poor design decision, I'm not angry that these objectives *exist*-- I'm angry that they're permanently keeping me from accessing other content. Give us a way to bypass them-- a way that free players have equal access to-- and I will stop complaining about this issue forever. |

KameRoseThe idea of it costing a permanent loss of idols instead of rubies has a certain charm to it.
However, a paying player should have a slight edge. Something like a paying player could apply it once a month and a non-paying player every three months, but not be too crippling for them. In my mind this would be a premium feature where the only benefit is getting that check mark on said objective. |

Muljo StphoRandom thoughts, throwing my 2 cents in...
I would assume that the free pass idea, if they were to implement something like it, would mark an objective with a white flag, not a checkmark. Because this is something distinct from actually completing the objective. Players would have a few alternative options available to obtain white flags such as: a) any chest purchase package of X or more chests will have a flag added alongside the chests and the empowered buff b) purchase with idols similar to Viktyr's idea, although I'm thinking flat rates that start at Y idols for the first flag and scale up a certain amount from there based on the number of flags you already own (starting high and scaling steeply) c) purchase with rubies, also with flat rates starting at Z rubies and scaling up from there (also starting high and scaling steeply) d) maybe even a scheme for crafting them, cost doesn't scale but it does ask for fairly high numbers of each type of material plus several catalysts (so this option would be reliant on RNG from multiple jeweled chests) For balance concerns there might be some limitations on flag usage similar to what thedude said in the third point (1 objective per campaign may be flagged) or possibly just having a cap on the number of flags that may be owned in total. And then on top of that it would be possible to remove a flag (making it available to reuse elsewhere) if you can go in and complete the objective. I personally might suggest that a flag will prevent access to a higher tier version of the objective but it will at least allow the objective to count for same-tier things that require completion of it as a prerequisite (such as the 11th objective). I also agree with the assertion that flagging an objective will not reward the rubies (or any other prizes) that would normally be rewarded for completing it. You need to beat it legitimately for that. |
