Pause Button for Timed Objectives

I have tried to contain myself about my rabid hatred for the Get Me Out of Here objective, and the *many* reasons for that hatred. I got lucky and a glitch gave me GMOOH at tier 1, which is all I needed-- with tier 1, I could complete It's Getting Darker and refusing to touch tier 2 and tier 3 would only cost me a few hundred rubies.

But now, you've gone and added another timed objective... this time, in an event which means that presumably, if I don't complete it this year, I won't be able to participate in tier 3 at all next year.

As much as I hate the entire concept of timed objectives in an idle game, especially when the objective disables all *strategic* means of completing the objective... the worst part is that there is no *pause* button. There is no way to step away from the game without the timer counting down, and that makes these objectives completely impossible for me; this is one of the reasons I am playing *this* game, and other games in this genre, instead of other genres.

So if you could please, *please* add a button that pauses the game entirely-- no gold, no XP, just *paused*-- that would make this game much more enjoyable for me, and for other people I am sure can't concentrate on this game exclusively for an hour and a half at a time.

timed objectives are not as hard as one thinks. especially this event one which they specifically make it easy.
the t2 get me out of here too was super easy, didn't seem so the first several dozen minutes but one accelerated as one approached the end.
BUT you must make the time, you must sit and play it uninterrupted, if you can;t then don't even try.

Respectfully, just because it is not that hard for *you* does not mean that it is not that hard for someone else. I failed t1 four times before the glitch handed it to me.

It is not a matter of *scheduling*. I have a psychiatric disability that prevents me from working, which is why I have so much free time to play this game, but it also prevents me from concentrating on any one task for ninety minutes at a time.

I am requesting a feature that 99% of single-player games have had for the past thirty years, that would prevent me from being locked out of parts of this game's content forever. Please stop trying to talk the devs out of listening to me.

Exiting it will pause the timed objective.

Viktyr, I idled for 30 minutes during sugar rush and still had more than 7 minutes left at the end. Pausing the game is a huge change in its logic because so many things rely on the steady flow of time, missions and the rate of event currency just being two examples of them.

And I am not sure, how this idea made its way into the minds of so many people recently. If ideas are discussed and other members of the forum are opposed to it, it doesn't mean, CNE will not listen to you. So, please stop trying to talk others from not participating in the dicussion. This is a forum after all.

Cheers!

@Andreas: I agree 100%.

This is a forum. Anything posted here is subject to replies from other players and should even be encouraged. That is why we post on the forums, to interact with other players /and/ reach the devs at the same time.

As for pausing the game... I doubt a pause feature will be added. Too much work for a handful of objectives.

However, this has given me a thought. I know there is a glitch that as far as I know has never been fixed. Someone feel free to correct me it I am wrong. I you put your computer to sleep while the game is open it will effectively pause the game. You do not earn event currency, xp, or gold. It may be worth a try to see if it pauses a timed objective too.

i can never get sleep to act consistently for me. accidently do it about every other week when traveling with laptop and sometimes game resumes where it was, other times it forces a reload and says something like you got xyz gold whole away for 10 hours...
it's the 'signal' that should happen from the computer to the server that is not able to be consistently not sent...

In terms of the actual topic here and not the debate it devolved into, there IS a pause function, at least in some form. Click the options menu and turn on "Toggle pausing on popups". Whenever you need to pause for a few minutes, click that options menu, go to the chests menu, or anything else that causes a popup, and the game's enemies and timers will pause as long as you're on that screen up to 5 minutes at a time. If 5 minutes is not enough, exit and re-open the popup to restart the pause counter.

Thank you. That's actually a helpful response.

Might be a bit late for this, but I dun goofed. I said that pause feature also pauses objective timers, but it doesn't. I've only ever used the pause to open chests in dangerous areas, but never in timed objectives. I assumed it would pause the timer BECAUSE THAT ONLY MAKES SENSE. Eh, not that big a deal, though. The devs are human, after all. Mistakes happen. I'll just put in a report to see if that little oversight can be amended.
