PoppyduckLast Edited March 24th 2017 at 10:55 AM Hi! It is till a fact that there are more male crusaders than females. I find that deeply disturbing. Gender equality is a value to be held high, it is stated in the law of most democracies. My daughter and I love Crusaders of the lost idols. Games are of central importance in the popular culture of today. Games conveys values. The last expansion is as telling as it is disappointing in this context: it adds 3 male crusaders and only one female. How should I explain that to my daughter?

AndreasWe had this discussion last year. Pretty much exactly last year to be honest. Also, if my memory servers me right the inital arguments were nearly the same and so was the speed when insults and name-calling started.
To hopefully shorten this repetition of a more than lively exchange of swear words and insults, my recommendation would be for you to check the archive for it. My two cents this time: While I agree with the fact that equality has to be one of the most important goals of modern society, one can easily go too far with this. While you ask for equality between male and females, you could be asked to include asexual and transgender into your request. As snow mentioned - and I actually don't think he is missing the point - with the latest event, the game added a male and an asexual crusader to the game (the other two males are already in the game for nearly a year). Plus, Broot is both female and male, the best way to display transgender from my point of view. You wouldn't want to tell your daughter that only female and male should be equal, right? What I'm trying to say is: From my point of view, this game does not need to be political correct or a role model in each and every way. We have Angels fighting along Demons, we have a cat who is dressed as a school kid and we are sending crusaders out multiple times a day to get a Tractor out of a field to prevent the world from ending while we do it even more often thanks to an Alien. And even if you insist on saying CNE doesn't do equality, check the wiki and see for yourself how many female and male event crusaders have been introduced within the last 12 months. There is progress. And this is what you can talk with your daughter about. Equality is a goal to reach. Through progress. It takes time. Until this time has happened both the game and the world aren't perfect. And with this, I stop discussing this once again. You made your point clear and CNE is checking each and every request, you can be sure about it. One hint if you want to be taken seriously, though: Don't insult others, please. Cheers! |

PoppyduckLast Edited March 24th 2017 at 12:09 PM Gender equality is a process...Before starting to make points about transsexuals you should have a clean plate. To include one transsexual crusader does NOT exhume CotLO of the gender inequality. As a paying customer (I have bought all expansions so far for me and my daughter) I question the striking gender inequality displayed so far. And I am sorry, referring me to some archived dusty thread is not good enough. I am talking about the latest expansion in case u missed that...

Erika/AlynianaLast Edited March 24th 2017 at 12:51 PM Too hot a topic for the forums.
Crusaders get added as they get added, regardless of player opinions of what should be added. It's more just about what will add fun with whom is already in game. The Superhero event added 1 new male and 1 genderless Crusader for the 2017 edition, because most of the superhero genre is male, though yes, there since the first wave of feminism there are more female super heroes taking their place in the world. Crusaders is just a game, and not a representation of what our beliefs are. |
