BrrrrrKaltThis is something i thought about a lot because of the frustration I experienced after some of the new Tier 2 events.
In the beginning of CotLI it was fairly easy for me (and also others) to gear new event crusaders, which i wanted to use, by just buying 64 or 128 chests. It felt balanced that I would get about one to three epics of each category and could get to start working on new formation ideas. That is what is fun for me about this game. Now i don't know if it's just bad luck or whether some items are just rarer than others. During the Valentines Event I bought around 180 event chests (money and currency). My Tier 1 crusaders were full epic before that so if I wasn't wrong the new chests should've been weighted more to the new crusaders. AND they were! BUT For Katie (wanted to get her full epic so much) I got 14 epic Halos, 1 Epic Bow. But the Quiver stays blue till this day. I don't really care about Warwick but it was the same with him. ERE. Now my proposition to battle this proplem. Introducing another event-only currency which you can get by opening event-only jeweled chests. It can be per chest or as an extra card which gives you either a fixed or a random amount of tokens. Tokens should be able to be collected over different events, meaning they stay the same all out the year. During the events it should then be possible to upgrade or buy a certain gear (for the 4 crusaders) you wish for in some kind of event shop for a fixed amount of tokens. The drop rate of these tokens and the gear cost balance I leave up to the people who would implement this kind of system but of course non paying players should also be able to get a piece of gear sooner or later. For me the Tier 2 crusaders are mostly not usable because my Tier 1 is fully pumped with E and GE. But it's so frustrating if you can't switch up your formation because you face a two-sided dilemma. I love high numbers but also the style and theme of some of the crusaders. If both fits my needs I'm overjoyed. Best example in my case is Karen. The abilities, the art and the possibilities of formations make her so much fun. I know she's one of the weaker crusaders and Kiz certainly takers her place in later stages of a run. But without getting her to EEE she would propably stay in the dumpster like most of my Tier 2 guys (or girls or robots or etc.) It just so much of a "the-right-feel-kinda-thing". Storytime over. Thank you very much. Regards BrrrrrKalt |

BrrrrrKaltAlso I'm unfamiliar how Legendary Crafting will affect this whole situation. Knowing that there aren't any gear missions for Tier 2 crusaders in the current version of the game I don't know if it will be possible to craft epics for your Tier 2 crusaders.

Raymondmany tier 2 crusaders with even only uncommon or rare and a heck of a lot better then any tier 1 crusaders that might be all epic or golden epic.

AndreasLong story short: Erika has mentioned that the crafting system is implemented with the issue in mind you described. And if I'm not mistaken, it was either her or Justin in either the last or second to last AMA on reddit who said that crafting will be for T2 too. Plus, the gear missions will - one day - take T2 event crusaders into account.

Muljo StphoI've bought chests at the minimum amount necessary to get the golden epic for each one they've offered but that's pretty much my limit. (I've avoided picking up the Brogon/Leerion and Bubba/Veronica "starter packs" until some sort of opportunity to get them at a sale price comes up though (if that's even possible... how about sales to buy kreds on Kongregate cheaper? Does that ever happen?), because I feel like the $20 price tag on those is a bit much.) So all I can say is "Wow!" seeing the numbers that you say you regularly buy.
Anyway, my take on the idea as I was reading that might have been a little bit different than what you were actually asking for. I was picturing a system where they perhaps do something like "1 off-season event token dropped per minute, randomly drawn from all existing event tokens" so it's half the drop rate for active event drops. (I think? Those are 2 per minute, right?) And since it's split among all the different event tokens instead of being focused on any one thing, it would take a long while to accumulate the 11,250 of any particular type of token to purchase a chest with them. (Or maybe they can make the all-year shop sell chests for 3000 tokens but it's the "silver with a chance to upgrade" drop instead of the guaranteed jeweled chest?) The standard drop rate of one specific type of token during an event's active run time would exist separate from this ongoing multi-purpose drop. We would have an inventory that keeps all event tokens forever instead of resetting them. But the only perk from this would be that we'd never lose the option to spend those tokens on event chests. My take on the idea would be a lot more interesting to those of us who do not buy 50+ or even 100+ chests at a time with real money like you do, though. I'm sure you would not notice the occasional one extra token-bought chest that much. But yeah, pretty sure something might have been mentioned about missions for crafting recipes being able to teach gear for ALL crusaders anyway. And recruitment missions and gear missions for tier 2 crusaders will happen eventually, further down the line. |
