FingerDemonNow that we have so many crusaders with new and sometimes complex interactions, it has become tricky and frustrating to rearrange crusaders to try different formation configurations while they are interacting with each other. Moving crusaders has gotten really laggy and it's easy to accidentally drop them into the wrong spot. Thanks!

thedudeI do agree with your point about having too many crusaders to easily fiddle with formations, (I currently have 74,) I don't think pausing the game would be plausible given how the game is designed and how many timed things there are in general.
As an alternate idea, I am thinking about a talent on the utility tree that grants access to a "Training Room." A room separate from the actual crusade; a place where you can experiment with all of the different formations, swap crusaders in and out, turn abilities on and off, possibly even set how many enemies are attacking your front row. Once you have it set up, you can hit the go button, and it will tell you all of the output stats. Then you could pause it, swap around the formation and try something new. All the while the current crusade is running in the background. With the current setup, I really don't change my formation that much. Only if there is a new crusader who does about the same thing but better than an old one I already have in formation, and then it is more or less a one for one swap. This would allow us to experiment with every new crusader that comes out, without making us feel like we are losing things, like the XP that our DPSer would be getting in formation or the gold from our supports. |

Muljo StphoThe training room idea seems like it might be an interesting tool. (Although I'd question how well the game would handle running anything like that in parallel with regular gameplay. Probably more likely that it would need to load into it while "logging off" from the regular run, and then after you're done with the training room it calculates offline progression (side note: I don't just mean offline gold earnings, I mean the actual offline progression that people can get if they play Crusaders on mobile, in my version of this idea they would copy that mechanism into the web / Steam version of the game) when you load back into the regular game.)
In the training room we would select from any formation in the game (all campaigns and all events). Load, edit, and save any of the 3 saved formations associated with your selection. Perhaps even allow a lot more than that to be saved (10?), with the ability to mark 3 as favorites to have those be the 3 accessible from regular gameplay. Oh, and since it's something separate from any regular gameplay mechanisms, obviously all crusaders would be available to place in the training room (even if they're away on a mission or currently in the active run). And then yeah, going beyond just being a fancy way to arrange formations to load up in regular gameplay, perhaps it would let us configure the levels, xp, and whatever else of crusaders in the training room to help make comparisons between different formations. (Maybe even a toggle for a gear equalizer mode? So if you wanted to get a sense for how two similar crusaders compare to each other in a general sense without the differences in their gear and EP, you'd turn that option on.) And then you can choose and configure a wave of enemies to throw at the formation (including ones that are tanks or stealthed or ranged or suicidal or whatever else we can see somewhere in the regular game). I'm trying to think if there could be some way to work in some sort of very minor reward into this as well. Nothing really substantial, of course. Maybe something like 1 EP or 10 rubies for every X amount of time in training, and probably with a daily limit on top of that. But a little something extra would provide a bit of encouragement to keep coming back to the training room to keep experimenting with different builds. |

FingerDemon"Training room" idea sounds like fun, but
that is way beyond the scope of my request to simply Pause the game when 'picking up' a crusader to move them :) Interesting ideas, though - Thanks for responding :) |

Raymondhere's how to pause the game currently.
1. turn off autoadvance. 2. if you are near a wall then go back 10 or 20 areas. 3. do whatever it is you want to experiment with. 4. no CNE programming time required whatsoever. 5. done. 6. everyone already knows all this. 7. so this is a waste of forum bits. LOL |

Raymond, I know that stuff; my request is for a simple and logical change to streamline game play :) |

FaintKarmaYeah. I've been wanting this also.
I've been using Raymond's method of going back to level 1, but sometimes when I start with a new world, it takes me a while to figure out the next formation. And since you can't change the formation when being attack it can get annoying. This is more of a 'nice' thing for newer players. I'd rather have pre-made formations or better yet, formations submitted but the users. So I could click on a button and go to a new screen. Select what world, say Ready Player Two, and then there is a check box, "Formations with crusaders you own" The viola, here is one the devs made, along with other ones. Yes, my mileage may very but it's a start. Right now you have to search here, reddit etc to find formations and build them. It would be another "nice thing" for newer and less skilled players. |

thedudeThe problem with pre-made formations is that your optimal formation changes depending on who has what gear, EPs and possibly EPs of seatmates, talents you have purchased, and several other factors.

As mentioned, something like this wouldn't work with how the game is programmed, so it's neither simple to implement nor logical to do so. |

FingerDemon@FaintKarma, it would be interesting and useful if players could share Saved Formations (or something like that). Sounds like it would be really complicated and nearly impossible though, per the reasons given by thedude.
@TinDragon, I meant the concept of having the option to pause the game while moving crusaders is simple (as compared other ideas given here for training areas or sharing formations, etc.) My programming experience is with machine vision, process and motion control of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. I have no idea how this game is programmed. Are you a Codename Entertainment programmer? If so, thanks for responding :) |
