oooooo
It may happen that you start a (long) mission but you do not realize that you need a crusader. Why don't have a button to cancel the mission?

Because that will allow you to cancel a very long and useless mission 1 second after starting it, freeing space for a shorter, more useful one. It would be quite exploitable.

How about the ability to switch out a crusader then.

How about if after you cancel a mission, it just returns to the queue instead of going away? That would allow players to get back crusaders but not make it exploitable.

Just pay attention to who you send. No need for a cancel button.
The risk has to be taken when you click the "Send" button.

Well, there are some rare cases when canceling a mission in not about a miscalculation, for example when week-end buffs kick in, making crusaders that were not part of your formation suddently useful, and it's quite annoying if they are away for a day... So, I'm not against canceling missions per se, it just needs to be done properly.

One possible solution would be to have a specific talent for that (more talents are always good!), that allows you to cancel a mission with a certain cooldown which could be reduced with talent levels, starting from several days (maybe something around 10) and going down to maybe half a day when the talent is maxed. This could be used to "get rid" of long, useless missions, but it won't be free, you'll have to invest idols in order to do that.

A cancel button would be highly appreciated. Of course, it has to be done in an unexploitable way.
Always being able to cancel a mission with it returning to the queue or simply combining it with a long cooldown are both valid ideas.
Having the opportunity to cancel a mission immediately after its start (when noticing a crucial mistake)would also be ok.

@Vingummi: Remember that games are designed to bring fun. Every smart game designer would tell you that it is very important to let the players feel good about whatever they do in a game. There is no reason to punish people for doing a small mistake, just because they could have avoided it.

Easiest way would be to allow cancellation at any time - and the time remaining for the mission to run would just add to the cooldown. So the only advantage would be getting your guys back - the next mission wouldn't come any sooner than it would've ordinarily done, so not really exploitable.
