I have a question about the gems.

What's the point in crafting higher than a flawed type? Because I get that two +3 chipped make a +6 flawed, but why should two +6s make a +9? And two +9s a 12?

Sure, you want to have the ability to put more gems on, but aren't you loosing out on stats because they're not doubling?
