Nothing new, you can receive several hundred requests, but only have 50 items in your inventory at any given time. So tell your friends to shape up!

I asked staff here in the office to clarify and it turns out that the "unlimited" requests was a bug causing requests to fail to limit - they were never supposed to be so high. The limit is 25. A fix was rolled out last month. It's not a new cap, it was always meant to be there - the only reason it wasn't was because of a glitch that you (and I!) briefly enjoyed. The inventory cap is 50, though.
