Game will not launch anymore

I've been playing COTLI for a really long time but in the past day or two, I have not been able to get the game to play no matter what. I typically play through the Steam version and I do get the initial splash page, but when I click on Begin, it just crashes out. I did try downloading the standalone version of the client and that also does the same thing. I would have opened a ticket but I can't get in game to create it. Please help!

I'm having the exact same issue. Redownloaded the game, I verified game files, restarted computer, everything I could think of and it's still doing the same thing.

Did anything update recently: OS, antivirus, antimalware, drivers?

Is the game allowed to run still if those did update?

If you have another computer you can try loading the game on, does it load on that computer?

Nothing changed when it started happening, I just closed the game and went to reopen as a normal restart of the game and it started doing it, just seconds after I was already playing it. I was able to get the game open on a second computer.

I tried on another computer as well and was able to get it to run. I checked my restore points and I did find that I installed a game which also uses Adobe Air so I went ahead and did the system restore back to prior to that game but still having the same issue.

I have the exact same problem since I tried to restart the game on Wednesday. I sent an email to crusaders@codenameentertainment.com with a crashdump but I didn't get any reply yet.

No OS update, no change on the firewall, no driver install between the time I stopped the game and the time I tried to start it again. The game is working perfectly for my fiancée, on the same network.

I've tried a bunch of things (including disactivating temporarily the antivirus), reinstalling COTLI, deleting some temp files, but nothing worked. :(

Running the game by launching CrusadersSteam.exe works for an other user and myself:

Launching from CrusadersSteam.exe worked for me as well. It can't use the steam overlay or buy anything but its playable which is fantastic, thank you. I am still very confused why standalone wouldn't work though.

@Erika, will there be an actual resolution to this problem? Interestingly earlier today I happened to be switching between levels and left it on the selection screen when I had to close the application. When I tried launching from Steam, it came back and actually took me back to the level selection screen but as soon as I selected a free play level, it crashed and went back to the behavior where I had to launch the CrusadersSteam.exe. It would be great to be able to actually launch this from Steam because you know, that's kind of where any profits would come from :-)

We're not sure what would be causing it, but it's on our fix list to look into when we have more time to do a proper deep dive.

It would be great if a proper fix could be found, since we don't have access to the Steam overlay when launching the game directly, which means we cannot buy anything from the store, such as the season pass...
