AnimenutYeah yeah, I know it has been said before, but it is still no less frustrating. WHAT is the rate for silver/jeweled chests as rewards for completing free play in events? I'm 10 resets in and 10 silver chests up, and this is a recurring pattern with every event.

snowI feel your pain but it's just utterly random. The other day I got 2 epic spears for Sal in a row, being one of just a couple epics of the original crusaders that I hadn't found so far. And that was after days of no epics at all. Just freak randomness, chances are in some event in the future you will get 3 jewelled chests in a row in free play...

ihatethisfingthey should really think about giving out pity jeweled chests if you go through a boss area X amount of times without getting one.

AnimenutThing is, I always get jeweled chests like crazy during events that I couldn't care less about. Not to say I do not enjoy events, but in this one in particular, I REEEEAAAAAALLLLLLY want Baenarall's epic mace (for Ancient Hatred), far more than I want epics for crusaders from other events I do not end up using. However, in THOSE events, I get like 4 jeweled chests in a row, while in THIS event where there is a crusader that will definitely be used in all my formations, I'm swimming in an oceans of silver with not a single glimmer of a single jeweled chest for miles around. If it was a silver chest for reaching area 200, then sure, I'd understand, but I'm plowing through to area 1000 every time and STILL can't see past this unending wall of silver boxes.

snowYeah it's uncanny how it's usually the one gear slot you really, really want that you just can't seem to get... :o

AndreasLast Edited April 14th 2017 at 3:14 PM I only got one epic item for Baenarall so far. Her mace ... Meanwhile, I had to work through three or four gear missions to get Billy's epic cufflinks only to get the recipe half an hour before his final gear mission was completed ...
@ihatethisfing: You likely are mixing the rng-based grant of silver/jeweled chests for beating a boss level versus how event chests are granted? :) Even though: About the pity-granting of stuff: Very unlikely to happen since the game doesn't store how many event chests of which type you have opened. And if it would, the danger would be there that some players might exploit it. Also, any kind of pity setup would not lead to solve the situation but to more discussions whether any values are too high or not. |

AnimenutAndreas, I mentioned this a while ago in a different thread, but I've had the idea of having the drop rate of silver/jeweled event chests be linked to the progression through the chapter before a reset. Ergo, your chance of getting a jeweled chest would be higher if you reached area 500 compared to if you reached area 250. I mean, that's how idols work, so why not event chests?

snow@Andreas So you get no reward if you are all epiced out on that crusader, or does it grant an upgrade for some random other crusader instead? Not likely I guess.

AndreasLast Edited April 14th 2017 at 11:28 PM Well, yes, the higher you get the higher your bonus in idol gain is. However, this was implemented with a T3 Talent and I would say that more powerful players benefiting from it rather than beginner players is easier to sell to the community than for event chests.
I'm not even writing about its implementation without being exploitable. I think every player should have the same chance regardless whether it's the first event he/she ever played, or the 100th. If you spend 2,500 event currency and make it through the free play, you have the same chance. The benefit you have if you are more powerful are the event objectives and the tiers themselves. As written for the pity-timer. From my perspective, weighing in your level gain wouldn't lead to solving this case. Players would argue the weighting is too low or the numbers are wrong. I.e. if your chance to get a Jeweled Event Chest is at 90% if you have reached lvl 700 during FP, players who get up to 900 would argue it's too easy, while players who only get up to 600 are arguing it's too difficult. I'm not even touching the fact that even with 90% probability you could fail twice in a row... Long Story short: Randomness, with or without weighting, is cruel. Especially in combination with our very human nature to see patterns and explanations everywhere. [edit]@ Snow: Nah, I did a mistake back then. I finished up the gear mission and then realized I got the recipe just half an hour earlier. But I think Erika mentioned what would happen if it was the other way around: If you get an epic through crafting while you are running the last gear mission, it should disenchant the piece of gear giving you crafting material. Never tried it, though since Billy was the last T1 eventer to get epic gear ... and yeah, the cufflinks of course had to wait until the very end -.-' :) |

AnimenutNot just the talent that grants extra idols based on progression. Yes, that, too, but even without it, later areas grant more gold, meaning more levels and more idols. The talent helps, but the "progressing further yields more idols" stays true even without the talent.
As for the difference in perceived difficulty based on progression, is that not true in any game with any system of linear progression? To a new player only getting 20 idols per reset, seeing the talents cost so much seems like an insurmountable task to max out. The talents have area requirements, sure, but just because you reach area 600 doesn't mean that seeing numbers for the next talent level like "10,000" is not daunting, knowing there are still 5 levels after that. Meanwhile, those of us in the 2mil+ range of idols are nonplussed by pretty much any talent costs, and are now at a point where we don't even have talents left TO spend idols on. The "Too easy" and "Too difficult" complaints would be dumb as HELL because yeah, duh, of course, newer players have a tougher time with things than long-time players with lots of resources and growth. It is no fault of the game or mechanic, and newer players complaining that they don't have the benefits of long-time players, and long-time players complaining they don't have the restrictions of newcomers just makes no sense. |
