Viktyr GehrigBriefly, it is quacking miserable.
I've had network troubles the last couple of days, and these troubles have made playing Crusaders an extremely frustrating experience. My game is constantly denying me access to the UI, crashing, or throwing an impressive variety of bugs at me-- some of which, admittedly, I have benefited from-- and while part of the blame falls on my incompetent rural ISP, the game's handling of this situation is remarkably poor, and I would like to ask the devs to take a serious look at it. A short list of problems: * Whenever a server request fails, the game's controls lock up. This is frustrating on standard objectives, where it can delay my progress by several minutes, and absolutely infuriating on timed objectives. * Whenever I am forced to restart the game, because it has stopped *trying*, I am often forced to wait several minutes for the game to restart, and several more minutes for assets to load. * I am experiencing numerous bugs in the game play as a result. For instance-- and I have already opened a support ticket-- I cannot currently deploy Queen Siri. I've restarted the game four times, and the game simply does not register her existence. Oh, I can buy levels and upgrades, but she will not leave the bench. A couple of hours ago, the game crashed while I was resetting the world; it would not allow me to select an objective, giving me the error message that I had already selected an objective. I had to restart, *again*, and when I came back into the game I was on area 1 of the selected objective... with all of the idols from the previous reset, plus all of my Crusaders were at the levels they had been at before the reset.(Thanks?) I understand there's a considerable online component to this game, but seriously, it's a single player game. Temporarily losing internet access should not cripple the gameplay in this fashion. |

AndreasIt's not the temporary loss of internet connection which causes the bugs you have seen, but a more steady instability or weakness. All the bugs you have experienced have existed for quite some time. CNE has done quite a lot to reduce the pain. I.e. a couple of months ago, you could get stuck on a boss level for the simple reason beating the boss monster wasn't registered in the backend and therefore the game couldn't decide whether or not you win a silver chest. Right now, you autoforward even though the function isn't called or takes longer to return the success.
About the locking up: What I have experienced is you can get controls back, whenever the games notifies you a second time about the trouble with the connection. Clicking on the screen makes the popup disappear and you regain control. This won't help in timed objectives, but it does reduce the pain a lot in standard objectives. Also there are a few variants of the reset-bug. One is the way you experience, starting the objective in lvl 1 when you reload the game. Others - me included - have experienced that the crusaders are forwarded to the level when you did the softreset before, having all the gold again. In especially bad times, you can do this a couple of times in a row - my record is five if I am not mistaken. To add to your bugs, other experiences are with the missions screen. I.e. since also 100% missions are checked with the backend, your game can freeze when you finish a single mission. Especially so, if you start the game and switch to the missions screen quickly since it takes a lot of time for the game to load the graphics. Now, while I am with you on the thought that the game should not suffer to this extend when your network connection is weak, I also can understand CNE relying a lot on an internet connection. For the simple reason that any offline calculations / routines / gameplay can be and are subject of cheating. It already is done with the savegame flash stores locally and I can understand CNE trying to prevent this as much as possible. |

Viktyr GehrigIt's a single player game. Cheaters are literally only cheating themselves.
