Kanki KeijoLast Edited April 9th 2016 at 6:10 PM Tanking killed this game. All you need is 15k idols and patience to reach area 1000. Every man and his dog is doing it now. Why would I even bother to farm idols anymore? Why would I care about new events and crusaders anymore? Who cares about tier 3 talents anymore?
http://www.kongregate.com/forums/12051-crusaders-of-the-lost-idols/topics/606848-area-1k-club You had lot of time to react for it, but you didn't do anything about it. Instead you introduced even more tanking characters like Alan and as latest, a tank like dpser Metal Solderiette. It seems to me that it was intentional change from devs part to transform the game like this to counter the max 5000 crusader levels. edit: I think I have to recant some things what I said. I realize now that it was not probably devs intent to do it this way, but it just happened. Some people played the game "wrong" way and it was not foreseeable. Tanking exploit is something that can't be undone at this point of game development anymore. In any case, this killed the game for me and there is nothing anyone can do about it. So, tanking it is. |

TeschioWow, you can get to lvl 1000 using a cheap trick, so I guess the game is dead... I'm sorry, I can't follow that logic. Is your only objective in the game to get to lvl 1000? If so, I guess you can stop playing now, and leave the rest of us that still have fun here.

OG.BryhannahYeah, I have to agree. I just barely got to level 500, because I don't care. I have a few objectives left to do. I rarely ever use "tank" formations, I'm all about raking in the gold.

Kanki KeijoI was looking forward to reach area 1000 with bw and my best dpsers, but that is ruined now. So, yes, they killed the game for me by allowing such bs tanking method to exist.

OG.BryhannahWe'll miss you. As for me, the game is FAR from "killed".

SupervisedLast Edited April 9th 2016 at 6:28 PM I have to agree with Kanki.
Since I realized the Alan trick (which is completely legit), I have completed every objective in the game (including 1k area) and have stopped farming idols (currently at 45k idols) I haven't bought any jewel chests and am not interested in any new crusaders/gear. With Alan and my 45k idols, I can finish any new objectives that devs are going to come up with. I am sad to say that I only login every few days to check if there is a new world map. |

Smash10101The Alan method might not be doable in a new formation. Having three in front is pretty big. I doubt you could make it to 1k on World's Wake that way.

My Alan method works as long as resurrection, firestorm and magnify are allowed in the formation regardless of the shape of the formation. |

Smash10101Really? Like, I get that he'll still theoretically work, but having your tank survive long enough to die twice in a formation like triangle seems really hard. Maybe with a full epic Alan you could get away with it if you only need a single trigger due to his epic staff's damage.

SupervisedHere is someone else's approach. It's definitely doable regardless of formation shape.
Since devs are ok with Alan method, I will just link it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35UQJeHOLLE |

Kanki KeijoLast Edited April 11th 2016 at 6:05 PM Isn't the whole point of the game to go as far as you can? That's how I always imagined it. Alan is a game breaker and he makes tanking easy and it really ruins everything. Thanks to Alan's resurrection skill, I can go as far as I want. When I got the hang of it, tanking became so easy that I don't even need to use any resources anymore. I'm going past area 1100 now on event map and I'm not going to reset anytime soon. Maybe I'll get bored when I reach 1500, maybe I'll go past area 2000. Is there any reason to reset anymore?

MisterC8Just reset if you reached the highest area. Don't make any arguments invalid.

OG.BryhannahFor me, "the whole point of the game" isn't actually "go as far as you can". For me, it's like chess. You find different strategies for doing things. If the whole point of chess was "to win", you'd stop as soon as you mastered it, because then it would be boring. And for some people, they DO stop! They're just not interested in chess beyond that.
Other people study famous games and develop their own strategies and share them with other players. Yes, and try to beat them, lol. There isn't a single game anywhere that everyone plays the same, or for the same reasons. That's why people say "Well, then stop playing" - because just perhaps, you've reached the point where you're done with this particular game. My adult son loved Crusaders at first, but after finishing a few objectives, he was done. He doesn't hate the game or think it's boring, he'd just played it as long as he felt like, and then moved on. |

For me, I've found the best strategy in the game, which can pretty much finish any objectives/areas. If you have Alan, you will have to try it for just once and you will understand. Frankly, I don't see why anyone would need any new crusaders if they already Alan. |

Missy LenoirI did give Alan tanking a try. I wouldn't say it killed the game for me by any means. I have two objectives left in which I won't be able to use Alan or at least, not for the full objective. Also, tanking requires constant attention to progress each level pretty early on. I found that tedious and didn't get much further than I would have on pure dps before I lost patience. Furthermore, the mobs got buggy the further I got using the technique and instead of enjoying the challenge of the higher end, I got frustrated.
I suppose if your only goal was to reach zone 1,000, then yes, indeed, the game would be over, but that's not every player's only goal. |
