AllenMS828I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but I didn't see it when I browsed through older topics.
When you open a treasure chest, does the area you're in have any effect on the rarity or type of the items you get (aside from gold)? In other words, if I get a chest from the area 5 boss, am I any less likely to get common items if save it until, say, area 100 than if I open it immediately? On a related note, when you reset an event Free Play, does your highest area reached affect your odds of getting a jeweled chest, or do you have the same odds in area 300 as area 100? |

RaymondLast Edited January 22nd 2016 at 9:40 PM the amount of gold given from a silver chest is a random function of your current DPS when you open it, does not matter where the chest was obtained, but it does matter 'kind of' where you open it. i say kind if cause you could get to say area 150 and if your DPS is a gazillion you technically 'at that point' can go to area 1 or area 150 and open a chest and get the same gold. but if you didn't get to 150 then your dps was less and your reward is less,,,
I always use a buzzsaw buff immediately before opening a chest as that increases your dps. also in this example, in area 150 you could bench all your people, and have 0 dps, and slowly fall back level by level, but open a chest and you will get 0 gold. |

AllenMS828Oh, cool, thanks! I just assumed the gold amount increased due to the area and/or the gold bonus amount. Good to know about DPS being the factor instead. Any idea about whether anything affects the items you get from a chest? Or are those just completely random?

AmoonLast Edited January 23rd 2016 at 1:54 AM Currently active buffs have no effect on chest payoff. However, the current top area does, so you can use buffs to get further and then open them up to get more.
Basically, function of BOTH factors: current furthest complete area and current permanent DPS (buzzsaw and coin buffs don't work, not sure about roboturkey) Items from chests are random except for some guarantees to get equipment and rarity levels in Jewel chests. |

DoomMantiaAmoon: the buzzsaw DPS buffs DO work (but the coin Gold buffs do not, for some reason), the RoboTurkey works, and also Jack's DPS Increase when he's being attacked works, because what's used in the calculation for gold drops from chests is the current DPS you have at the exact moment when you open the chest(s).
A good strategy if you have Jack is having several monsters attacking him at the precise moment when you open a chest or use the x5/x25/x100 buttons, so the gold you'll get from them will be much higher. On those missions where your formation or available crusaders change every 25 levels in such a way that you gold bonus is higher on certain 25-area periods than on others, another strategy is going back to an area within a period where your gold bonus and DPS are the highest (can be the first 25, but you'll have to scroll a lot) and open your chests there, then press G to enable auto-progression and quickly go back to you current top area. |

AmoonLast Edited January 23rd 2016 at 12:01 PM I just tested the buzzsaws (three tiers of buffs at once to boot), it didn't change anything. I'm getting 260(+/-4)t on a green card whether the buzzes are running or not.

DoomMantiaHuh, I just tested it myself, and I got 9.58e76 on an uncommon Gold without buzzsaws, and 1.37e77 twice with a common and an uncommon buzzsaw activated. The increase was very small, but it was there. Still, nothing like what I recalled. Weird.
OK then, buzzsaws give a tiny increase that's not worth it. |
