I purchased a jeweled chest with my rubies and when I went to open it the game lagged out and my page crashed. When I logged back in my rubies were still gone, I had no chest, and I got no gear from it.

If you crash during a chest opening, you still get the gear, just not the stars indicating new items.

If you put in a help ticket using the "Help and Support" link, we can take a look and tell you what you got.
