My comments on the event now that it's over

So SoT 2nd event has now officially ended and I think it's time to look back on it and offer some comments from the perspective of someone that got 200/200 on the event. These are just my own opinions.

I think the event as a whole was good. I think the setting and story we're different and interesting, if anything they were my favorite part. It's nice to get a valentines event that isn't just baby cupids and twilight love stories. I liked the more mature feel to the event though I think a few of the general ideas may have skirted the line on being appropriate. Still, I think on this front it worked well overall.

As for event awards. It was nice to be able to get the clothing sets with tokens. In all honestly neither set really interested me, but I did see several people with them so, eh. The trinket looks neat and I'm sure the monument will as well. My only real complaint with the trinket is that it's the exact same stats as every other trinket so far. I mean, it's not that big a deal but I think it would have been nice for it to be a little different. As for the other stuff we could buy with tokens, I don't think I really have any complaints other then the fact that there wasn't really anything that unique. They're great rewards for the new players but not really anything good for those who are more maxed out. Getting to choose out rewards rather then getting something at random was a much better change overall and something that I hope stays for future events.

Next up, the missions and overall completion requirements. This is the area I think needs the most improvements. The missions themselves were fine. The stories were interesting enough and I liked the new enemies. The different quests for each mission were neat and I liked how you couldn't accidently miss something during a side mission.

All that said, there definitely needs to be some changes for future events.

First off, and least surprising, was the difficulty. I'm not too sure what happened with this event or who it was intended for, but it didn't seem like it was for the average player of this game. The missions were fairly hard but at least doable. The MP, especially the heroic was way too hard. There's no reason 4 lvl 30's with full HoT equipment should have been getting their butts kick through the floor by the final boss and the secret area, don't even get me started on that. Thank god the achievement was only for finding it and not clearing it.

As far as turn ins go. Having to do each mission variation for 200/200 is fair enough. Having us get the missions at random was horrible choice and something that I hope goes away in future events. Yes, random chance has it's place in games like this, this was not one of them. It's one thing if was part of a new shard that we could take as much time as we wanted on, that's fine, but when you have only two weeks and can only get 1 of each mission a day, that's crossing over into bs territory. Then you have the stones to add a P2W option in there for more missions? Seriously, can you guys at least attempt to be subtle about trying to get more money out of us.

Then the item drops. Don't get me wrong, I think turning in dropped items is reasonable and a decent addon to an event. My one single complaint is the number of turn-ins. My god the turn ins. You need 100 of each to complete the event, then another 100 to finish the achievements. Do you guys play the events and try to complete them? Good ****ing lord are the turn-ins just about the most tedious and boring things you have to do. It's even worse that you didn't even have breakable objects in any of the event areas or MP. I'm baffled by this. Which one of you honestly said "Yeah, this is fun, this is a good idea" Add more breakable objects, make the items more common, give me a way to buy them with tokens, lower the number we need to finish the event, good lord I don't care, just change something with them.

Don't get me wrong. You guys had a great concept for the event. I loved the story and the design and all that. The execution is another story. To me it feels like you get soooo close to making something fun, then decided to ruin it by adding P2W or finding ways to take fun missions and make them frustrating, tedious and boring. So please, whoever is handling the creative side of things, keep doing what you're doing because you do a great job, but whoever is handling the mechanics I really think you need to put a bit more thought into things and either put more time into playtesting or put together a playtesting group to help you.

Hopefully it won't just be mine. I'd be surprised if people agreed with me 100% on this, but I did see some similar comments throughout the event.

I agree with you!
I reached 200/200. But I don't kill the secret boss (to hard for me - 59 BR).
To finish Hardcore MP I needed the help of other nice guys.

I love your events but its frustrating if I can't reach the goals on my own.

I finished the quests to collect things on the last day but not much enough to get the achievments. I played daily with all my stamina and fishing stamina and all multiplayer - runs. But there were days I get only one slip... ;-)

man, this was 1 frustrating event; as a mid BR lev30, finished all missions, got all achievements and still did not reach 200; the whole event was a struggle, having to depend on hi lev heavy hitters to complete some tasks. it definitely was scaled for hi lev and low lev players, but not for mid levels!the rewards were apparently scaled the same way; heard a lot from hi levs chat of getting 4 or 5 epic rings every day. I did 3 heroic events on last day with all mid lev players and we struggled to complete them! my rewards: 2 lumbers and 1 gold; talk about discouraging!!
