This thread has been created for the express purpose of selecting a new leader and new name for TKA. If you are a TKA member who would like to throw your hat in the ring to be the new leader, please post your candidacy and platform here. In one week we will hold a vote to select the new leader. If you would like to nominate a fellow guild member who you think would represent the guild well as leader, please do. However, Marie is declining all nominations. I have been leader long enough.

Also, TKA members are invited to submit new name suggestions for the guild that will more closely reflect our mission that has expanded beyond the place for The Kindred Alts to reside. We have many members for whom this is their primary guild, and we want to reflect their role in the guild. Following selection of a new leader, a vote will be held to select the new guild name.

Finally, this thread announces that TKA is now a Level 10 guild with a Level 10 skill tower, a Level 6 Store, and a Level 1 Casino.

Thank you for all your work in building this guild to an outstanding guild. You should all be proud of your hard work.

I would like to propose as a new name for TKA: Kithaven

This is a name I had intended to use in creation of a guild until the creation of The Kindred. When The Kindred was created I decided its mission statement was close enough to what I envisioned for Kithaven that there was no need for a new guild.

I envision Kithaven to acknowledge that the guild provides a home for Kindred alts, as well as a haven for all other players looking to find a guild that provides support for its members, and out of which they bring strength into their participation in the game through collaboration, camaraderie, help to newer members, and by friendly competition.

Kithaven would always be considered a sister guild to The Kindred, and movement between the two guilds as has been done in the past, would continue to be supported, with Kithaven often used as a training guild.

Derivation of the word is
Kith: acquaintances, friends, neighbors, or the like; persons living in the same general locality and forming a more or less cohesive group; kindred; and a group of people living in the same area and forming a culture with a common language, customs, economy, etc. (I would define our neighborhood as SOT, irrespective of your actual home location in real life.)

Haven: a harbor or port; any place of shelter and safety; refuge.
