You likely already had completed 20+ of their daily quests before you changed partners, so were able to start their dating quests right away after dumping your old partner. The 10 and 20 quests I mention above are how many times you must complete any of their normal daily quests before the respective quest chain (coffee or dating) become available. The trinkets aren't explicitly called "Mega combine trinket". Their just unique trinkets the drop in secret bonus areas in the High Jungle, Salt Desert, and Prismatic Passage (not the Spine of the World. I misremembered.) These trinkets combine 5 earlier combine trinkets. They are the Bonded Super Kernel, Nomad's Star, and the Gilded Reliquary. More will be added in future major area updates.

You can take as long as you like courting another partner. Sorry for the confusion.
