AnubischickI went away for a day and the thread expanded. :)
Ok first up, I'm a CNE player (ex-BFG, which is why friends are new to me in this context). I assumed reading the description of these whacks that they were a progressive roll, like Raymond describes, use the whack of Player A, say my buddy Flybaby with her distinctive AI red hair and blue glowing sword on a Monday at 4pm, and I can expect to see her turn up again on or after Saturday at 4pm when her 5 days in the wilderness is over. However reading Flybaby's posts it seems that isn't the way it works, firstly there is a cap of 100 whacks and secondly they seem to reset weekly. That's not how it works for me, my whacks go up each day if I don't use them (hence the reason for the first post as that wasn't happening those 2 days), but I've never stored 100 so I don't know about that other message. However it seems weird to me to cap your number of weekly whacks at 100 when you can have up too 250 buddies who can whack for you on a 5 day cycle. Something is very wrong with the maths here. AC |

FlybabyLast Edited April 23rd 2019 at 8:31 AM Hi AC ... just to be clear ... my numbers will also accrue daily if I don't start at 100. I like to start at 100 because I can keep track better.
I'll have to look at it closer the next time I use up all my friend whacks. This is a great thread. Thank you for starting it. |

ArmyMomOkcLast Edited April 23rd 2019 at 9:19 AM A couple of things. I am still getting stem the tide requests/notices, from some people I have a lot of interaction with, so still an irritation I would like to see go away.
In regard to friend whacks. I do as Flybaby does with my main profile. Monday I have 100 ready. I have 250 buddies, so even with the 5 day cool down there are enough buddies in line to fill the 100 slots for the week. I have another profile that only has 125 friends. For that one I see the number change through the week. I started this week with 65, I didn't use any so the next day(today) I started with 85. I used 5 to see how many I will have tomorrow. It seems with this profile I am getting some buddies aging in as available as the week goes by. When I get a new friend it adds to my available friend whacks. I have only recently gotten over 100 buddies so I'm expecting this next Monday to finally have 100 available. An area I am still fuzzy on for CNE buddies is about inactive players. I have kept my buddy list pretty clean, but am still unclear how long to wait before removing someone. I have a few that are high level players who show as not playing in weeks. They may have good reason to be on break, would hate for them to come back & everyone has ditched them since it's so difficult to add buddies when you're full up on them. I'm probably over thinking in my concern but would like thoughts about how others decide to remove inactive buddies. Thanks :) |

Raymondi will tell you my method. i do not delete anyone.
a whole lot of high level players get bored and only play when new content comes out like the salt desert and its nate and kaine, and events. then they play till done that tand leave again for weeks to months or whatever. by my not deleting them i have them available when they are current played in last 2 weks list |

BotaLast Edited April 23rd 2019 at 2:33 PM ArmyMomOkc I just use auto purge as this decides for me as I can't pick and choose either. It does not affect the game play as we seem to be able to do everything else for players except visit their ranch here on CNE.

AnubischickI wondered about auto purge, I haven't pressed it obviously as I'm still building my flist, but is it designed to remove people who haven't played in a fortnight?
ArmyMom that is the way it works for me too, which is how I think it should work. So it looks like I misread Flybaby's explanation and that is the way it does work so that's all good. The odd thing now is the 100 whacks limit, that seems counterintuitive to a 5 day cycle with a possible 250 buddies. In relation to cleaning your flist, I think pick a time period, be that a month or a year and once someone is inactive for that long, let them go. If they are, as Raymond correctly intuits, high level players who only come back for new content, then they aren't really of much help to you as a daily player. They won't be around to clear obstacles or send you trinket items or packs and whacks. I think once that becomes your playstyle (if it ever does) then keep those players in your list from that point on, after all you'll all be turning up at the same time for the new content so you can be there to help one another and then all be absent together. In fact, given players like that are dead weight to a daily player, perhaps it would be best of they do band together and stay on each others flist and off a daily player's because they aren't contributing in the way that an active player does. In other games I've played with a friend system having higher level friends is an advantage as they can send you items you can't make or source yourself, but that isn't how it works in BW2. It's much more egalitarian and every player can be of use to every other one in the same way (once you reach the commons and can send trinket items). The only way a high level player is of slightly more 'value' is that they are more likely to complete events earlier and therefore have access to the gifts you get for event items, and can send them to lower level players for a quick boost. However even that is a momentary aid as time will give the player the same advantage in energy and therefore power and mana. Basically I'd say don't feel bad about cleaning your list when you see someone who hasn't been around for a fair while. There are plenty of people in the 'add me' forum looking for buddies so if they do come back with a few spots left they can fill them easily enough, or they can just send you a buddy request when they return and you can add them back if you have space. Perhaps one day that'll be a dilemma I need to face :) Cheers AC |

FlybabyLast Edited April 24th 2019 at 12:51 PM Ok Just finished using my 100 friends whacks. Now I have to wait until Monday for it to reset.
Heres the pic of the 100 limit popup. https://prnt.sc/ngbtep Out of my 200 plus friends, only the ones that helped show the time before they can help again. P.S. When I looked at my friends, it states that a couple of friends can help me in 7 hrs. That's a laugh, because my pop up screen says I have to wait until Monday. |

Raymondhere is what Nick said of the differences today in Dev chat
[Dev] Nick Pettyjohn: There are small differences between platforms based on their features, the expectations of the players, and so forth. CNE Games features what we feel is the optimal balance: giving players decent additional progress via the friends system while not being too game breaking or tedious to make use of. |

FlybabyI posted "Maybe it could be re-worded Nick, so players know they can't have all 250 friends whack. I finished my whacks today, and have to wait till Monday for it to reset back to 100, yet on my friends list it says they can help me again in 7 hrs."
[Dev] Nick Pettyjohn: Ah, yes you're right Flybaby BW. I'll add that to the list. |

BotaHi @ Anubischick the auto purge only purges someone who hasn't played for a month ,hope this helps you. Also @ Flybaby when that pops up you should be able to send requests to other players to add onto your Friend Whack list, I will do a screen shot for you when I have used all mine to give you an idea :) Gotta learn to screenshot now lol.

FlybabyLast Edited April 24th 2019 at 2:29 PM Thank you Bota, that is only to invite new friends/buddies.
Nick addressed the issue in chat. CNE is set up different from FB |

AnubischickBota, a month, well that seems reasonable.
Raymond/Flybaby, thanks for letting Nick know, if we get clarity around the whacks it will make much more sense. I must admit I don't see why there is differences between the platforms now, I would have thought it would make it easier for the devs if they all ran to the same rules and criteria. I would like to see that timer on CNE for when each friend has helped you last, but (I think) that is a FB only? If not can someone who plays on CNE tell me how to see it? I don't mean the buddies played last list, but the when they last helped one. Cheers AC |

FlybabyLast Edited April 24th 2019 at 7:49 PM I don't understand Nick's explanation at all. Makes no sense to me. I wrote him again, and asked for clarity on several of the questions we have.
On the CNE platform you can view time left for friends to help, but you can only see that after you use up all your friends whacks and you are at 0. Those who have helped will have a timer showing how long before they can help again. Those who haven't helped will not have a timer. When I viewed mine today, I found a glitch or discrepancy. It showed a couple of friends could help me in 7 hrs, but because I'm at my 100 weekly limit, no one can actually help me until Monday (4 plus days). Definitely a contradiction of facts. I told Nick about this glitch, and he agreed that I was right, and he's putting it on his list [of things to fix]. |

FlybabyLast Edited April 25th 2019 at 3:26 PM I am very pleased to share Nick's response regarding my specific questions about Friend Whacking on CNE. Hopefully this will put our confusion about it to rest:
Q: Why do we have a WEEKLY limit? A: This is to limit the amount of bonus progress you get each week from friend whacks. It is a balancing point just like how much energy you get per day and how long crops take to harvest. Q: Why can't CNE have ALL 250 friends help every 5 days, like on Facebook? A: Facebook is a different platform and has a different balance. We have no plans to remove the limit on CNE Games. Q: Is Monday the day that the Friends help re-sets [after reaching our limit of 100]? A: Yes Q: Why can’t each friend roll over every 5 days? A: They do, but you are only allowed 100 friend whacks per week. If you have less then 100 friends, you can use them multiple times per week, on the 5-day cooldown. Q: Why does it say less time on our friend’s avatars than it does on the weekly limit pop up screen? It seems contradictory. A: This is likely a case of the in-game display not having enough data about the weekly limit. We can look into fixing this. Q: Can we "invite" more friends to help even after we see the "you have reached your weekly limit" pop up??? The “Invite Friends†in the Call on Friends area is confusing. Once you have reached your weekly limit of 100, inviting new friends won’t help. A: The invite link is just a simple invite link and is not directly related to friend whacking. We can look into changing how that prompt to invite friends works once you've reached your 100 limit. Sincerely, Nick |

AnubischickCheers Flybaby, it's a shame we have the limit on CNE, but at least now we have some clarity.
