Increasing level cap

The title says it all: the 5000 levels per crusader cap is starting to hurt, my free play farming runs end up with pretty much 100k levels. I know there is a structural limit to DPS and gold (10^308 iirc) that would need extensive rewriting to be removed, and therefore I am not suggesting to remove the cap, just to increase it. With something like 7500 we would still be VERY far from 10^308, while giving the players that are "stuck" something to do. I have played this game for 326 days, and this is the first time I am actually considering to quit, since there is not much to look forward to. Even some objectives, like tier 2 Teacher's Pet (and tier 3 are way worse in that regard), are utterly impossible with the current level cap: with Kizlblyp as DPSer you can reach the cap at about level 650, and after that completing the objective becomes impossible (even with clicking builds and copious use of buffs), because monster HP increase dramatically while your damage remains the same. What's the point of having an objective that can't be completed because of a structural limit of the game, regardless of how much farm you have?

I wonder, how many users are in a situation where level cap can actually hurt? CNE has always stated that they are a minority, but since they added farming-boosting talents I'm not so sure they are anymore...

@ Vingummi: are you sure? I feel with farming-boosting talents, people that can reach the level cap are more and more every day. Basically everyone playing this game for 250+ days.

It is relatively easy for me to hit it, at least with the first 5 or 10 crusaders, not to soon after I hit my first soft wall. I had a tank formation set up, and maxed out Gorklok and Jack O' before I even had to stop and farm. It was quite frustrating. I currently am on day 353.

I'm still a few days short of 250 game days, but I am not even close to the level cap. I usually get to the wall around 2k 2.5k with Nate/Kiz during Free Play. And I think, CNE either knows or thinks that the majority of players, even with about 200 or 250 days on their belt is also not close to this cap. Don't compare the users voicing their concern to the overall mass of players which is a lot higher.

However, I feel your pain. It even feels like CNE doesn't take care very much about the high rollers. And I hope, there's something to come rather soon.

I hope that as well, because I never got bored of this game in 326 days (despite being an idle game, so prone to cause boredom - the fact that it doesn't is a testament to the dev's good work), but I am starting to lose interest now... when you see that farming is pointless (more idols = more DPS and more talents that increase DPS, but I am already capped so what's the point?), and that even some objectives are impossible with the current cap, this runs the risk of getting frustrating very quickly.

I'm losing interest, too. Without an increase of the level cap - or some additional talents - there is nothing more to do for me as to farm idols. All remaining objectives I have are impossible at the moment even with a million idols...

I feel not even new talents can make the game interesting again. Farming idols to increase talents that increase DPS is all fine and good, except when you already reach a hard wall... then farming becomes pointless. Right now, I am still going through the motions, in the hope that my idols will be put to good use soon, but I don't know how much longer this will last.

Ving and smash10101 has joined the players council and the aniversery of cotli is soon, so obviously something is coming soon and i rearly hope it comes with a lvl cap raise

I agree with Teschio.

Erika is hopeful for level cap increase on crusaders and talent level increase. See it on Erika's Weekly AMA 15.

I think considering their recent study that shows the game appeals heavily to the min/max crowd, they should work with that in mind. I had thought just reading chat that I was sort of a loner in it, but clearly I'm not and with the game growing, it's going to pull even more in.

They should make moves soon to up the limit or give us talents for more dps. Maybe set the next talent level at 750 or 800 which is fairly doable during an event with currently maxed levels.

To change such a major thing as the way numbers are stored is not a trivial thing, and therefore I think that in this game, Crusaders of the lost idols #1, nothing like that is going to change. look forward to a new game.
similar to saying, lets change bushwhacker 2 from being a flash based game to an html5 based game. not going to happen.

I know it's not easy to do, and this is why I suggested an increase of the cap, not its removal. It seems like 10^308 is a hard wall that requires extensive rewriting, but moving the level cap to 7-8000 doesn't get you remotely close to that wall, and would solve a lot of problems.

I have problems to reach area 600 and higher, because most of my crusaders are on level 5000. I have just stopped Free play 'Idols Through Time' in area 580 and 582, because my main DPS had reached 5000 and the team did not want to really increase the total DPS.

I vote for higher level cap. If not 10,000, at least 9,999 should do it (and as the latter has 4 digits as well as 5,000, it should not present too many problems for the devs.)

10,000 would be too much, the game has a hard limit in its coding, and can't handle DPS/gold higher than 10^308 without extensive rewriting (which the devs will more likely never do). But 7-8k would still be very far from that limit, and at the same time high enough to allow us to at least complete all the objectives.

Erika says the level cap for the update will come but nothing public to announce.
The extensive rewriting happened in Clicker Heroes to handle higher than 10^308.

@Homasho: the digits in decimal are meaningless and are completely unrelated to actual data limits.

The actual limits are based on the gold price of levels (chiefly Nate's) and end up at about 9100 levels.
