Unless I am missing something, how is RoboSanta better than Panda for gold generation? Even with a 4 person column in front of him, RoboSanta gets far less gold than Panda, and his DPS is useless, so I am trying to find why anyone would use him?

Edit: I stand corrected, once you buy the Epic Cap of Coal Giving it increases his gold generation over Panda's when he has a 4 person column in front (which is possible with the Christmas tree formation). The 4 person column basically doesn't exist except in the christmas tree formation though. Three person column is more common and it does seem RobotSanta still has a slight edge over Panda with this config, but I feel that's only because I bought the epic level gear.

I guess you have options if the formation isn't going to work to put santa behind a 3 person column.

I haven't quite got the hang of Frosty yet, I guess you put him near your weakest DPS so he isn't draining party DPS while still amping up his own. The only issue seems that his DPS isn't that good overall, so I having a hard time trying to justify him over a hero that gives a +20% to overall DPS through gear/abilities.

Fun event though :)

Thanks for the new event, but the timed quest seems to be a waste of time and candies. Especially time.

@ DN: Glad you're enjoying the event! =)

RoboSanta, even with his normal Epic gear for his ability should be on par with Panda for Gold gain when boosting 3 Crusaders, Panda will still be better for formations with only columns of 2 Crusaders, and RoboSanta shines with 4 or more. You never know what new formations we might add. =)

Frosty has his skill for +10% DPS to all, as well as a +DPS to all gear. Then he has his 3 200% skills, and his self-DPS gear, but we'll keep an eye on player feedback.

-----

@ Varie: Happy you like the event.

The Timed one is fun to try, since it has the 700% Spawn Speed boost to monsters once you clear area 25, every 25 areas. So the tricky part is clearing the first 25 areas in good time.

The objectives with Idol requirements are just guaranteed Christmas Jeweled chests. Completion of the event is getting both Crusaders and all 6 achievements if you're concerned about completion.

Thanks for the reply :)

I think for Frosty, the issue is he is so far up the hero tree, that by the time you would use him and be able to purchase his super DPS power, you have already switched back to using Jim, Sasha, Kaine or other heroes further down for whom it is way more cost effective to purchase their x4 DPS over 200 increases. I'm not sure he can compare, but I also am not one of those guys with 15,000 idols saved and doing the level 300+ runs so maybe there is a time and place for him in the future, but I would think the math still works out the same. Plus I would think for regular idol runs just to rush to a reset you wouldn't even cycle him in. I don't even cycle in Thalia or anyone up the tree much when doing a reset run except Nate. Nate's DPS is usually outpaced by the low level heroes by around 70-80 or so for me, so its going to be even worse for someone like Frosty who has a lower base starting point, but still quite high up the list.

--

Separate question, For those people who miss an event entirely, for example if they didn't start playing until after Halloween, are they stuck never being able to get those heroes, until next year if the event is run again?

I'd really like to be able to obtain the Halloween or Carnival heroes.

The x mas event run called "Milk and cookie run" is the best you have created thus far. Loved it! Good job!

"Milk and cookie run" is apparently impossible for me/my computer. Even with picking up drops as fast as possible, DPS high enough to defeat monsters (including bosses) the moment they enter the screen, and auto-progression, I can't do it. The best I've gotten is level 148, and it was not a fun hour at all. (I assume the point of a game is to have fun, no?) Part of the problem seems to be that it takes so long to load the world that I start with a good chunk of seconds off and if my internet drops for a moment (which happens often because I live in a rural area with poor internet), it eats up clock while not letting me advance. I guess it doesn't matter because I can just do free play, but it's still frustrating and has turned out to be a big waste of candy canes.

I have to second what 'user' said. I ran Milk and Cookies as fast as possible. All monsters died the second they appeared and i grabbed all loot immediately. I don't know of any way to have run this mission faster. I was 11 level short at the 60 minute mark. Very disappointed. I'd ask for tips, but I can't imagine what else would help other than random luck, which basically means waste candy canes.

Not completing this means I can't do the other one. I'm not sure what the idea behind this was? Are people with slow computers or maybe kids just not supposed to succeed on this one?

Just my feedback.

Did you try to play in low quality mode?

If you're only missing completing Milk and Cookies by a little bit, there's one more thing you can try. The moment you see "Area Complete", click on the next area on the mini-map. That can actually save a few seconds on every map. Over the course of 150 areas, that adds up to two or three minutes.

Just be careful because that turns autoprogress off. I click 'G' every time I do it.

Click on "auto" for auto progressing the areas. Also, click on the chest as it drops form boss. This will make you pick up loot quicker and move on quicker. The timer goes as the chest just stands there.
The Milk and Cookie run is perfect executed for this. Beside a couple of times, I basically made the timer perfect.
One more thing to add. I had "perfect" run in my opinion with this method. In the end, I had almost 10min left when I completed this. I had less than 1000 idols at this run.
It is not bad at all. If you have trouble, either you are not being active enough, or you have maybe too few idols..or wrong set up of your crusaders. I don't know...but you are clearly doing something wrong. It's not the game.

For the boss maps, open any menu (for example, the help menu), it makes chests pick up instantly, no clicking or waiting.

I tried this but couldn't make it work. I still have to click the chest. Can you elaborate on how to make this work?

@ DN: Sorry for the delay in my reply. The designers are still talking over how to handle the missed event Crusaders in the fairest way.

For Milk and Cookies, once you get to area 26, hopefully in under 15 minutes, the buffs should carry you through until the end.

But you can access Rudolph without completing Milk and Cookies. The only requirement on that is having recruited Frosty and having 1000 Idols as well as the Candy Canes requirement.

-

@ user: Sorry to hear that not being able to complete 1 objective is frustrating. I will pass that along to the designers. We're just trying out different options for the events, and obviously a timed objective, while hard and fun for some players, isn't universally fun for everyone.

-

@ BeigeMidnight: The idea of the game is to reset as often as you can for as many Idols as you can. If an objective is going to take you a month or two, you don't have enough Idols to be doing it yet.

-

@ Zahiriously: Amoon is talking about having a piece of UI up when you're on a boss area and leaving it up until it's defeated. The two easiest ones being the recent play history, accessed by pressing "P" on the keyboard, and the help menu from the ? icon.

Erika and amoon, I still don't get it, if I do either of those things it freezes all action. monsters don't advance, they don't get killed, chests don;t drop and get accepted at all. game is in hold like if you go to open a chest, but here there is no countdown timer, just frozen time/non-action.

BTW, the option of leaving up a menu for bosses is very risky if you have an iffy internet connection. Sometimes it takes a long time for the boss battle to register on my computer. Sometimes I get "Seaching for Loot", then "Retrying Connection", and then "Failed to Find Connection".

At that point, the game will just loop on that level for a long time. Maybe it will find the loot (or not) within a couple of minutes. Maybe it will sit there endlessly. When that happens, my only option is to go back a level, then turn autoprogress back on. It skips the boss level and keeps going. I've missed out on several chests because of this.

Since I have to be able to see the screen well to do that, I don't use the menu trick on timed objectives. My connection just isn't good enough.

Raymond: oooh you need to turn off the autopause on popups. Third button from the top in settings.
