you can reset by aborting, click on your objective name top left, select some other objective and start it. click through the arnings and boom you are out of this with no rewards

The only difficult part of Inflation is the start.

If you don't have enough Idols and click damage trinkets, then yes, you will need to abandon.

You can try using the red eye icon buffs (Accuracy, Perception, etc.) to get you some extra clicking power before abandonning.
